I actually really enjoyed how T2 looked on Blu-ray and 3D. I can’t describe it. I normally want a transfer as close to the original film print as possible. I have no logical reason why I don’t mind it, I just don’t!

It's because it does actually look good for using such technologies that shant be spoken of, and for which existing at all reveals the mental fragility of its triggered critics. You can call it wax all day long and show the few shots which are cherry picked to back up the claim. But 99% of the frames are actually stunning images.

The HDR on the other hand... needs a helping dollop of assistance, via resolve

Yeah, the whole Titanic thing is a cultural black hole for me.

I have some interest in the actual maritime issues involved but otherwise it’s never clicked with me.

It’s worth a watch if you have any interest in Titanic from a historical or maritime aspect. Cameron hired the most knowledgeable Titanic experts as advisors. He was even able to track down the original carpet manufacturer still in business to replicate the original carpeting in the staterooms. The attention to detail throughout the film is remarkable along with the fact that he built a rather impressive 800-ft replica of the ship.

Cameron also paid homage to A Night to Remember as well re-creating several scenes and using the same dialogue.

I didn't know this. Interesting.

Yes, if anything, watch the film to get a sense of the faithful attention to detail and close-enough reenactment of the sinking. Think of the film as a documentary with some made up drama thrown in for entertainment purposes . There are plenty of actual docs on Titanic and the sinking but nothing on the scale of Cameron's film.
