I just noticed that there’s a mistake in the new trailer during the shot of the NTI light tube whooshing by. Whoever edited the trailer must have changed the speed of the shot and then used the “optical flow” feature in Adobe Premiere. That’s the best interpolation tool for motion, but it has to be used with extreme care, as it often leaves strange morphing artifacts in the shot. Take a look at the extreme lower left side (and, to a lesser extent, the lower right) of the frame during that shot. It’s all messed up. It’s that way even in the ProRes trailer. Pretty sloppy mistake. I doubt it affects the actual film, though, but only the trailer, as the artifacts actually extend down over the letterbox bar.

The DVD release had the slowed down credits version which is why it ran 145 minutes instead of 140 minutes |

For those who aren't aware of the difference, Lindsay says that line shaking her head in an exasperated / sarcastic tone in the TC, and in a wide shot. In the SE, it was changed to a close-up, and she says the line more happily. I don't expect that Lightstorm and JC would overlook that moment, but I wouldn't exactly hate it if they did since I like the TC take better. Guess I'll see on Dec. 6th. ![]() |

I believe the credits were redone at some point as the initial VHS had the slower ones, while for the 1993 SE reissue it got changed and that alteration was carried onto the 2nd TC master made at the time.

It wasn't until the post-1993 VHS re-release of the theatrical cut that the credits were redone, my guess is they took the SE credits and reconformed them to match the text credits of the theatrical cut and that's what was also used on the DVD release I mostly just want the fast credits back because of the unique music edits done for it |

Also, I'm hearing on Reddit from those who have worked on and seen early screenings of the SE remaster that the TCF logo was changed. It's said to still the 1981-94 design but the bottom "FOX" text was altered to now read "STUDIOS" ala this fanmade monstrosity.
![]() I wouldn't be surprised if this were true or ended up for the TC also. Titanic has had the same modifications for both US (Paramount) and overseas (TC/D) releases. OTOH, I believe True Lies will have the original 1994 logo intact since this practice seems to only effect theatrical reissues and not in-house masterings for home video/digital. |

It's possible my copy is rotting because my 4K player had a hard time decoding the menu for it, it literally made the scene selection menu impossible to use (I jokingly said the player couldn't play it right because it was so old and the player is so new) |

Of course I'm completely against logo plastering; but I would not mind seeing this concept being used in new movies that use old logos for an easter egg at the era or whatever. Like Universal and Warner tended to do sometimes. I certainly hope Disney keeps the original logo for all of the movies - but I think it'll be as you said; Century Studios for Titanic and Abyss, and Fox for True Lies. |

Wow, that’s amazing praise coming from you, Geoff! Yeah, I’d say the chances of it being the TC take are about 1%, but I’m still curious. I also want to know if the two issues with the branching on the DVD version have been corrected (the “so what are you doing here, hot rod?” line from the TC was left in the SE rather than the “yeah so…why did you come down?” line that was there on the LD. Also, the piece of music that was used when the NTI ark is rising was replaced in the SE, and the notes don’t match on the DVD when it cuts back to Benthic Explorer — you can tell that’s a branching moment and the music suddenly changes on the DVD). I’m sure they’ve addressed both of those issues now. But I’ll 100% report back here after 12/06 and let everyone know for sure.
