Hang on, if the UK release is being prevented (source?) - why did it get a DVD release in the UK?

Just trim the content if needed or place a disclaimer before the film.

That's a joke, OK, the reason I believe the film received a Cut UK DVD is because back then, the 20th Century Fox was not bought by Disney for Lightstorm pull the plug on the UK 4K UHD to avoid the BBFC's interference on the film on the new format I suppose?

Seems that while the rat featured in the film survived, several others didn't.
Not sure if that was a deciding factor in this.

Human suffered way worse, including the director, than the rat who just experienced something new.
Bloody rat is the only rat in the world who got an acting gig in a James Cameron film, and the UK ratings want to suppress his achievement.
THAT is animal mistreatment! Lightstorm should sue.
What next, remove dogs from the first Terminator films?
But, the response to that will be the humans did it on their own accord. At the same time they know the rat would automatically have no interest.

I have to imagine that if the BBFC censored the cat juggling scene in The Jerk, that they’ll certainly do the same for The Abyss.

Though come to think of it, there wasn’t any cat juggling in The Abyss

Think he was joking considering the news about it not getting a U.K. release was first brought up a few weeks ago.

Obviously Amazon UK won't have it but are their any other options for those in the UK to order it?
Plenty of other options, in fact I pre-ordered a copy of the Euro release a month ago.

That's sweet of you, but... don't you threaten me!!

Seriously, unless the Cameron diskys look a whole lot better than their digital counterparts I won't be touching them with a barge pole.

I am going to change the subject a bit here on the abyss.

for people that did the disc to digital on the abyss.. good news: it has been updated.
this is for vudu. it was sd and in pan and scann but worse it was stretched.. so you had change the format to 4:3 to watch it.

Now it's in widescreen. while it still says sd, its not.. even better news. it has transferred to movie anywhere.

Its the special edition for me.

Please report back if you find the new upgraded version on Vudu.

Jacob

yes, my previously purchased version of the Abyss Special Edition on Vudu is also now no longer stretched and zoomed.
