My copy is supposed to be here Monday from Amazon, but has yet to ship, and now I see it is OOS. So I'm guessing it will not be here Monday.

FYI - the Amazon copy came with one of those weirdly cut slipcovers. Like the one used for Prey.

I don't know how anyone could say JC still has "a great eye for how far he can push VFX" these days. I mean, Avatar is an animated adventure that sometimes has humans in it.

His tastes have shifted, but he's still one of the most notorious perfectionists in the business. You can't really argue that Avatar isn't incredible looking for what it is. Compare how Avatar looked against the Star Wars prequels. Both event films from cinema titans who could basically make something look as good as their imaginations wanted. The prequels look brutal in comparison.

Now you can certainly debate whether they're worthwhile movies or not...

The Walmart on the Black Horse Pike in Turnersville (in the giant shopping center with the McDonald’s) has squat of either title. They do however have more SteelBooks than you can shake a stick at, so if that’s what you’re into at least they’re there. But sadly no Aliens, no The Abyss, no True Lies.

The girl also gave me the same “making light of Walmart’s disorganization” shtick that they always give when something’s not in stock. Nothing like the Target answer, which is something I still can’t make sense of.

Precisely. It's a half-thought-out system. They're telling potential customers they don't have the item they're looking for and not to come in to look for it and while they're there maybe look around and buy something else, when they actually have it in stock, and maybe even multiple copies. Baffling.

Now it's a nilpick, and they move on to the next item on their picklist, and your order gets canceled. So which one's worse: "this item not available for pickup order", or "there's one in the store so you can order it but oops, someone else got to it first"?
The one where the store lies to you and tells you they're not in stock when they may have up to 3 copies is worse.

I mean, I guess it's okay to say over and over how much you like it, but not okay to post over and over how much you don't like it?

I'm talking about how people copy/paste the same statement in three threads, good OR bad.

I pre-ordered this and Aliens months ago on Amazon thinking when I did that I would be reserving one of the copies they had on hand, but I guess it just meant that I was reserving the right to maybe get it at a later date since it says now that they will notify me when it’s available.

This sounds like Best Buy but since they’re out of the business which store said they had them. They never showed available at any store nearby including B&N which surprised me.

Abyss and True Lies were just delivered from Walmart. Regardless of the debate on the transfers, it’s pretty cool to actually be holding these in my hand. I wore the laserdiscs out in the 90’s.

Speaking of Laserdisc, I will never forget walking into Tower Records and seeing the Abyss SE boxest for the first time. Being that these were the ancient times before the internet, the release was a complete surprise. I had read the novelization months before the film was released to theaters, so I knew there was potential additional material that didn’t make the theatrical version. To have that much footage added back to a film was almost unheard of in those days. Despite being a starving student, I snapped that $100+ box set lickety split.

I received my copy of The Abyss about an hour ago. Earlier today I ordered Aliens and True Lies from Bull Moose, both listed as in stock so I jumped on both of them. Keeping my fingers crossed that both ship out and just ship out when they get more in stock since my credit card shows a hold on those already.

Tried it on the X Series first, stuttered and skipped in the same spots without the annoying freezing for 10-20 seconds on the X800M2. Oddly enough, the disc played smoothly on the PS5. Still plan on exchanging the disc. There's some defect/damage if it's stutterinng on the Xbox as well.

I got my copy from Amazon yesterday...and as is typical with Disney and their insane decision to keep stacking the 4K disc in their packaging, my 4k disc has a really long circular scratch and a vertical scratch as well. I'm so done with that stupid company.....

Back to Amazon it goes.
