Walmart.com has it up for order again with a March 27th delivery date. I am surprised it hasn't sold out again but perhaps they were able to secure a large amount of copies. A few people mentioned yesterday that Disney was putting in a rush on having more made but perhaps without slipcovers so these Walmart copies showing available to order could quite possibly be them. At least people can grab one at a price much cheaper than the eBay prices.

Same thing happened to me watching The Abyss the other night for the first time.

That's where I grabbed my copy from. I initially tried to reserve a copy at Barnes & Noble who showed it in stock, but then later was notified they couldn't reserve it. Supposedly someone had already ordered it over the weekend and their site didn't reflect that.

I honestly don't care too much about the slipcover. I am not planning to resell it, really just want to have a legit copy of the movie that looks halfway decent.

I think I paid $27.99 or something for mine, not including the shipping but yeah I was really surprised it didn't immediately go out of stock. Maybe the retailer found a lost shipment. It looks like they are estimating 3-4 days shipping time which is actually pretty good.

I noticed too that all my orders through Walmart are via FedEx? My The Creator BD and now The Abyss 4KBD are both via FedEx. I kind of like that because the shipping is the same price as through Amazon but they don't use USPS who sometimes will sit on a package of mine for a day or two if they're busy.

Walmart had slips for all of them, which is odd because I noticed many Walmart Titles don't have any slips 75% of the time

I suspect the disc will be designed for the entire European market so should cater for a multitude of options.

So far I got my Aliens and True Lies and both had slipcovers. The one Amazon hasn't been able to fulfill yet is Abyss, and seems it's estimated for 10 days from now. Hope it still has a slipcover.

Just taking a wild guess here, but maybe because The Abyss was never even blessed with a(n official) bluray release? Same applies for True Lies, of course, but maybe demand was simply higher? And I'd personally argue Abyss is the greater achievement in terms of filmmaking prowess! As for Aliens: with all the negative posts and reviews floating around regarding the transfer and a totally watchable bluray available, at least the "day one"-crowd might have been kept to a minimum.
Therefore, maybe, Abyss was sold out quickest of the bunch? I'm just speculating here, of course!
Still waiting for my copy to be shipped, never received word from WowHD about my order's whereabouts, so I'm hoping it's been sent without notifcation, as some others reported earlier....

If you watch the doc on the disc, he actually did, pretty much.

In the doc, they explain how Ed Harris almost drowned too, because for the scenes where he's in the helmet filled with breathing fluid, the fluid didn't actually exist, so he was literally bolted into a helmet filled with water, 30 feet underwater. Bonkers.

How about that...going from March 25, April 12, May 12 for the three JC 4k's to tomorrow. Did Amazon find a truck full of them they didn't know they had?

- Get shot as intended.
- Priority One.
- All other priorities rescinded.
- Crew expendable.

Yes the stores would have the slips as part of the first pressing but as they go back to print movies, generally they don't include the slipcover. So these that are newly up on Walmart.com could either be the first pressing with slips or a newer pressing without, it's hard to say until they start arriving in the hands of those who got their order in, regardless if they have or don't have the slip, it should make fans happy who don't have to go to the secondary market for them, at least for now so if anyone has waited to purchase, now is a good time to get your order in while its available on there.

I'm not too familiar with the history of the audio on prior releases. Do the errors still present in the Atmos track only occur when watching the Special Edition?

Just finished this. I am generally not much of a James Cameron fan but I still remember when I first watched The Abyss as a kid. I really liked it then and I still like it now. It even brought a tear to my eye. Imagine that.

Now, I knew what to expect going into this in terms of PQ. So I just went with it. I thought it was perfectly tolerable. It is probably the best looking JC movie I've seen on UHD, which would place it firmly near the top of the bottom third of releases I've seen. Having watched nearly 1000 UHDs to date, that would put it somewhere around the 670th to 700th best. Not bad!
