Default The Abyss 4K Availability

I've been waiting months for this title to come back in stock at Walmart or other retailers for a decent price...but most places in the US are still $38.99 or up. Seriously thinking of importing a copy at this point not only for the price but the non-stacked discs. Anyone know the best country for price to import from?

I got a copy a few weeks ago from Amazon Italy, wasn't going to order it but saw they had the Harry Potter 1-8 boxset for £35 and you can add items to the delivery at no extra charge so made sense to get it then, added bonus was when it arrived it still had a slipcover.

OrbitDVD has them in stock for less than that, at least as of last week when I bought a copy from them. Their site is currently down (Asheville got hit by Hurricane Helene) but worth keeping an eye on when they reopen.

According to Mikael Salomon, he approved the transfer and he's pretty sure they didn't remove any grain afterwards. He mentioned they did some reframing. Because, guess who likes to do that.

I might get a chance to talk a little more with him. Not the other one.

So my copies of The Abyss and Aliens on 4K arrived from Walmart today. Aliens had stacked discs but ironically the 4K disc only have two very faint scratches on the very outer edge of the disc.

The Abyss 4K disc was not stacked and was in its own spindle while the Blu-ray and special features disc was stacked. We're the stacked blu-rays scratched?? Of course not, they're in pristine condition. And of course the 4K disc has two deep scratches on it. The QC at that Mexican plant is total garbage. They should learn a thing or two from Shout Factory's playbook. Never have received a scratched 4K disc or Blu-ray from them.

Personally, I have not had experience with this, but I have definitely seen some people refer to Shout as "Scratch Factory," so your mileage may vary.

Wow, interesting! I've always had great experiences ordering discs from Shout to the point that I believed they cared about making quality media. Lol, but you're right. Mileage will vary. Not holding my breath for an unscratched Abyss replacement disc as I've heard that so many are scratched. It frustrating that a "premium" format often has damaged discs from the factory and playback problems. I don't think I ever received new DVD's, CD's or blu-rays that were scratched unless they were rattling around in the case.

I didn't think there was much point starting a new thread but I received my Spanish Blu ray today.
I figured:
It's easily available
It's half the price
It'll look the same on my plasma
I probably wont miss the Atmos
It'll compress right down (no grain) on my NAS

Note it's a 2 disc set - Films on disco2 and extras on disco3 - same as the 4k set.

Couldn't have been a returned item, repacked and resale it?

Do you mean that he was ok with the altered color timing, the DNR and the AI processing?

I meant what I said earlier, that he approved the transfer.

Here's the whole interview with Salomon. In danish.

Fortunately I walked into Walmart Canada on March 19th around lunchtime and grabbed myself Abyss, Aliens and True Lies and left them with two copies of each movie left for $24.97 which was a smoking deal. When I called them a day or so earlier they had no clue what I was looking for

He probably had some kind of approval, then Cameron had approval over that and did what he did.

Why can't the Terminator thread be unlocked? Two weeks until release.
