So far, the change doesn’t let you play the TC at the moment. The purchase will still port the TC to MA. So, they don’t have two separate listing of the SE and TC.

MA and vudu have both versions. the special edition is an extra feature on both.

So did iTunes. However, a few days ago they switched the artwork to SE and made the SE the main feature. Someone probably just forgot switch the extras to TC. Right now, it seems the only place that plays the SE in 4K is Amazon and now iTunes. So, btw Vudu/MA and Amazon/iTunes, both are available in 4K. Amazons copy isn’t MA, so iTunes is really the only place if one doesn’t want their copy stuck on Amazon.

There would have been no way at all to convince the BBFC that it's possible for a rat to breathe underwater.

It was edited. The BBFC first required cuts on its 1989 release. It has been re-edited on every version since then with the official line being “cruel infliction of terror on an animal” (this was the term used by experts who were consulted by the BBFC.

After consultation on the 4K release, it was decided the original cut and reasons still stood.

It was slightly trimmed but mostly reframed. It was ok in 4:3 but made an odd aspect ratio change in the ws version. I don't recall noticing anything that bad at the cinema. I'd be happy with a new BBFC friendly version. It's not like the rest of the film hasn't been messed with.

It's beyond comical that the only one of these 4 James Cameron 4K releases that i intend to buy is the only one not getting a UK release. Can't say I'm surprised though, based on previous UK releases.

...and Channel 4 got their knuckles rapped by Ofcom for showing that, and had to play the BBFC approved version on subsequent showings.

Nowadays, in the world of streaming, all sorts of things slip through or go unnoticed.
