If by the old disc you mean that unofficial Blu-ray based on the D-Theater release then yes, it has more info in the highlights.

The TC copy that port out when you bought it remains, so you get both cuts in your MA library (both 4K, not sure if SE playsback in 4K though) as separate entries.
I'll try that later

Indeed. Laws are silly things really. We should just get rid of 'em.

Out of curiosity I checked out the digital version and boy does it look... well, it looks digital. When a movie shot on film no longer looks like film, it takes me right out of it. It seems Avatar ruined James Cameron and made him far too obsessed with this "clean" digital look. I'm no longer excited for The Terminator on 4K, whenever that day may come.

It certainly has the "digital" look but at least it's not as bad as on Aliens and True Lies. Still a massive upgrade from the old 4:3 non anamorphic dvd and obscure Russian HDTV rips.

There's nothing inherently wrong about a film looking clean, digital looks amazing when done right. The problem is detail scrubbing. In this case I think The Abyss is actually surprisingly good and looks much better than more problematic releases like Jurassic Park 4K.

Haha, I am not a vegetarian. My point is anyone who supports a law protecting a rat in a film and eats meat is a hypocrite and needs to watch some U.K. slaughter house videos. I love animals,
[Show spoiler]they taste good!

I get what you mean, in the UK animal welfare is sometimes put before human welfare.
