This place is going to have the most nitpicky people on planet earth because we expect the best and are not happy to settle for less. Will most of us still buy this on 4k disc? Yes, absolutely. That doesn't mean we won't criticize it for being worst than it SHOULD have been. All you're doing on here is complaining that the people people who should be most expected to criticize subpar offerings are doing exactly that. If you go through the hundreds of pages of these forums and still come away with the notion that "we hate what is being offered", we're "James Cameron haters", or any of that nonsense, that is on YOU because you're being overly sensitive to any and all criticism. You really need to step back and look at what you're doing on here because it's legitimately annoying as hell.
If it puts you a little more at ease, I annoy myself sometimes too. I realize what the board is all about and to think I don't want the best possible versions of movies? that's silly. But, I'm not going to sit and judge something I haven't seen yet. I have been critical of releases myself at times, and I'm sure I will be again in the future. So, I don't know who is really being sensitive here. I just have a differing opinion.

It seems Cameron took his time on the abyss compared to true lies and aliens. I saw the theatre screening. it looked great to me.

I agree! that turned out better than I could have hoped for. I hope the physical matches what was shown in the theater.

I mean, you can watch Blu-ray on it, although not sure why you would want to unless it’s a 3D Blu-ray.

The resolution and magnification means the image looks fuzzy, and obviously, fine detail is going to be poorly resolved.

The only possible benefit is for those that only have a small tv due to space restrictions. It’s nice to have a large display, but you lose most of the benefits of a full HD image with the limitations.

3D looks better. The very nature of VR lenses means the pop outs are outstanding and depth possibly better than some cheaper 3D sets.

I had a PSVR2 for about a year and I watched a bunch of movies on it. It’s limited to 1080P while in cinema mode which I believe is the same as the PSVR1 except with HDR on OLED displays. After using a 4K TV for 5 years, watching 1080P content strapped to your face at cinema screen size is a novelty at best. It really doesn’t look that great when blown up to the size that you want inside of a VR headset. I imagine that on a headset like the Apple Vision Pro or any other that can actually do 4K movies it will look awesome.

8K is an important development in relation to VR and XR.

if it was released in the UK uncut, it would've gotten an 18.

the price seems reasonable $25... we'll probably get it closer to $20 some places.

it now seems that my original disc to digital version now has the extras from the 4k version. the original theatre version as an extra. for some reason they list the date as 2008 when it should be 1989 or even 1993 for the special edition.
This is on vudu.
