Those dastards! How do they expect to make a profit?

It is probably that the retailers put in an inital order for each film with the studio distributors and those first orders are what they put up on their sites as "pre-orders". When those all get pre-ordered they then probably put in a larger order, and then once confirmed they open it up again for pre-orders and then re-order more if need be or they are then in stock from their distributor they use for media. I have seen other titles in the past as "pre-order" then show "sold-out" and then come back up again later on as "pre-order" etc. Nothing limited about these three releases that I know of just three very much in-demand titles especially The Abyss that collectors have been eagerly anticipating.

Yes but that is Best Buy in Canada, not Best Buy in the United States.

The french translation for The Abyss, of course. It's what happens when CA allows one province to dictate to the rest.

Well, French is an official language in New Brunswick also, and a lot of Ontarians speak French as a first language, but I hear ya, I'm not a fan of the bi-lingual covers either, even though I've pre ordered this one

It's actually an official language country-wide, as long as federal services are concerned. French is spoken by over 7 milliions people, 22% of the population. That's not irrelevant.

I could care less about the media cover being bilingual or not, but it's a different issue when releases have no french dubs in Canada. Sometimes they'll have spanish or german tracks but no french. That would be like having Mexican releases with english, french but no Spanish. Illogical! If you check release in France, they *always* have french dubs, why can't we have them? Is it that hard to port over an ac3 file?

But I disgress. Happy to finally get an HD/UHD release, with the proper dub, as the 20-something years old DVD is a shame!

What is actually comical though is that France will quite often not mess with the original title. My favourite example is "Alien". Same title in France. But in Canada it is "Alien: the 8th Passenger" (but in French). Anyway, for those that care, importing is always an option.

Nevermind. Apparently.. Canada has 2 official languages to recognize. English and French. I thought it was more of a English dominant and sole official language but also had French as another language there. Kind of like Texas but nope. Jesus, that must be so annoying to have so much lettering all the time.

I have hated how certain BDs that ended up being from Canada have that Bilingual covering. Granted... I tolerate it cuz those BS sets were specific to that region. Universal Solidier: Day of Reckoning (NC-17 cut) and Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes S1 and S2 (these never came out in the US).

You said it so I don't have to.

I've loathed bilingual covers ever since I was a kid and couldn't stand them on my cereal boxes. Then they started to sully DVDs with them.

I used to order English-only movies via Amazon but the currency exchange became too much.
