I know you think it might be funny to announce false information about it being delayed. .its not going to work. It's coming out in two weeks like or not.. the fact that the digital is online is a great sign that it is finally coming out.. Please stop with the misinformation. its very unfair to everyone that is looking forward to this release. If you need to be a **** about it.. take it elsewhere.

Indeed. These threads are already a rough read without having to deal with "jokey" misinformation intentionally put into it. It just makes the whole thing an even more unpleasant experience.

Haven't watched the movie all the way through since... ooooh, 2008? Maybe?
I have skimmed through it several times since due to all the *ahem* 'alternate' releases/transfers.
However, I've seen THE ABYSS at least 30 times, so it was down to waiting patiently for a truly good physical release to watch it in its entirety again.
Based on my skimmed through scenes at a friend's place that had the new transfer streeeming, looking forward to finally sitting down and watching it again.

I'm getting closer to getting rid of cable. I do watch some sports though. However, higher prices and more frequent outages (and longer restore times) with Spectrum cable is getting me closer to cutting it once and for all.

I last had cable around 2001. I think it was near the end of X-FILES, because I wasn't able to watch it anymore, and thought about it while it was near an end. But I had been lacking on watching it by that point anyway. Waiting for the DVD.
I was enjoying the first couple seasons of MALCOLM IN THE MIDDLE when I happened to see an episode playing.
But, it wasn't enough for me to pay for constantly changing the channel during annoying commercial breaks, not going back to what I started before going to something else. Over, and over, and over again.

We dropped cable about 15 years ago. Between streaming and physical media, we have all we need.


Also, I figured that I'd be seeing people unloading their DVD copies to the used shops by now but I haven't seen a single one. I think too many people are worried it won't really happen and aren't going to let go of their DVD until they've actually played the 4K disc and confirmed that it's real.

Re: cable, moved abroad 2003, 2006 moved back, Internet only, back then Netflixed DVDs of HBO shows weiaaed (Deadwood, The Wire). Good riddance.

I sold my DVD like 10 or more years ago when the last batch of rumors got really hot and heavy and then I never got around to re-buying it.

I've mentioned upthread that if I had bought the open matte version in the first place, I would still have it since I would rather watch an open matte version approved by the director then zooming in on a letterboxed widescreen image but I had the widescreen version and actually got a 16x9 display kinda early on (it was actually a tube set).

This one I will be getting. I always enjoyed this film and I remember seeing it when it first came out in the theaters. Fun movie and I can't wait to see this on 4K.

Ran by a place at lunch today and found two copies, $4.99 a piece, both the widescreen versions. Looks like somebody has faith this is actually happening.
