This looks to be the one instance where Walmart turned out to be the better choice of preorder retailer for these since they're shipping first. I ordered all three from Atomic Movie Store and so far nothing. They did say there was a slight delay but that shipping should begin "shortly". Amazon is turning into an anti-physical media retailer since they can't seem to fulfill orders for movies on time.

I bit as soon as the preorders went up at Amazon, so I'll be pissed if I don't get my copies on time. But you're right about Amazon. If you don't preorder very early you risk missing out on release day arrival. This is especially true for Kino releases, so I mainly order direct from them.

Don’t cancel an old preorder but place a new one on top of the old one. Cancel the 2nd one as soon as the 1st ships

the abyss has been number 1 at amazon.. some have noticed a delay.. maybe they didn't order enough.. the Conan films had the same issue. I ordered early on when the price was 39 bucks. I knew it would drop later. now at 24.99

I prefer the theatrical cut myself though, personally I found the special edition a drag to sit through when I initially watched it

I pre-ordered all three of the Cameron 4K releases from Amazon back in January (almost exactly six weeks ago). My shipping status for all three is "Not yet shipped", but my order summary still states they will be arriving on March 12. I doubt they'll be on time, but a guy can hope. I'm not canceling the pre-orders yet.

I guess I am not surprised by the apparent issue that people will not receive their pre-order on the release date, or even close to that date. More delays, for whatever reason, seem to be the on-going story with this title. The Abyss has been, perhaps, the most problematic title since the Blu-ray format began. Considering the many false release announcements and year after year teasing that this film is coming, why shouldn't it also have problems when it is finally supposed to be delivered.
