I ordered mine on Tuesday and its being delivered today via USPS Priority. It "shipped" Wednesday but didn't get "picked up" until Thursday morning.

{Well this is interesting. I preordered The Abyss on Amazon on February 2 and am still waiting for them to tell me that it's coming. Their last note to me was that my order was delayed and they would cancel it if I didn't respond saying that I was OK with the delay and to keep the order in place. On a lark, I went to Walmart and ordered the film yesterday morning. This morning, Walmart notified me that the film shipped today, less than 24 hours after I put my order in. So I have to ask, what's up with Amazon?}


After I posted the above note yesterday, Amazon sent me this notice last night:
New estimated delivery date:
Monday, April 15, 2024 - Friday, May 17, 2024

That's ridiculous. Another month to two months additional wait time to fulfill an order that I put in on February 2 after Walmart fulfilled it in less than 24 hours.

we need to fight against disinformation. it has gotten out of hand at times.

luckily there is no hfr like avatar 2 3d. that looked like a video game.

I saw the screening back in December. it did look more modern at times.

In the case of Star Wars, its not a question of opposing change. I have no problem with many director's cuts which are offered to the public after original theatrical cuts. George Lucas just isn't the same movie maker he used to be in 1977-1983... or 1981 (Raiders of the Lost Ark). His change was already obvious in 1983 when Return of the Jedi came out.

Fortunately I'm not so sensitive to changes in color timing or grain removal as some people over here.

Amazon just updated my order to "Arriving Apr 17 - May 21" which is utterly ridiculous. Luckily, the Orbit order I put in just a few days ago shipped yesterday. Once I have it in hand I'll be cancelling the Amazon order.

I got an e-mail from Amazon last Monday saying my pre-order from February 9th was delayed and I wouldn't receive it until March 26th. Today I received notification that it shipped and I'll get it this Monday.

You'd think a guy who has been doing this for more than 15 years would have learned his lesson by now. Uh, well I can confirm that I had not but I will try and mark the Abyss as the last Slipcover sticker I ever try to pull. I started with the upper outside corner, a gentle fingernail and quickly saw this was not going to happen, then I went for the bottom outside corner, same thing but now I have 2 indentations. I damn near ripped up the cover then I took a second to relax. I have been here before, I grabbed the electrical tape and cut out 2 tiny square to hide the indentations. Its good enough for me. I wish they would only use static stickers on Slipcovers. I can still try and pull em but it only takes the slightest push to figure that they are static and not glued in place like this one.Oh well, I look forward to seeing the Abyss which never made it to Blu-ray and I sold all my DVDs like a decade ago so I have not seen this movie for ages! I have read a few negative reviews but I do not care, James Cameron supervised these transfers, uh that is all I had to know to know that these transfer are as good as it gets, or at least very near this.

I'm debating whether to wait for a possible box set down the line, like the Stanley Kubrick Master Collection. Granted, I'll probably chuck the box and J-cards in the trash, but still.

Amazon has gone completely wonky. I just got the notice from them letting me know that The Abyss will be shipping on May 20. Really?!? I normally order 10-20 discs a week and suddenly orders that were expected in a day or two are all getting pushed out days to weeks. WTF?
