However long it took for Oppenheimer to become easier available would be my guess, or you could pay a premium and order a copy off eBay.

Holland The Abyss 4K French Release

I'm thinking about purchase the French release of The Abyss. Will the screen menus be in English, ported straight over from the US version, or created for the French market?

Yup. Too bad a lot of folks will miss that scene in better quality. They'd rather watch a DVD lol.

I wouldn’t assume the 5.1 being correct is proof they were aware of the issue. The 5.1 is from a 4.0/4.1 master. I would argue that was likely done out of incompetence or laziness, or some other third thing, not some purist reasons, or to avoid the issues of the 5.1 remix.

Haven't placed my order for The Abyss yet. I'm going to order the Scandinavian release from CDON and it has a release date 4/29. No need to be the first one in the neighbourhood to have a copy of The Abyss in my hand. It's a relaxing feeling. I'm probably going to order Aliens at the same time, altough its not my biggest favourites.

My WOWHD order arrived today. A nice surprise as they never told me it had been dispatched.

Never seen this before due to the lack of Blu. Looking forward to it. I'll start with the theatrical cut?

I'd go straight to the special edition.

We had similar issues with the Superman shorts. They knew of the issues before hand and decided to add more.

Yep, if you're planning to see both versions, that would be my advice. Always go for the release/production order. The extended cut is a whole different movie and, IMHO, superior to the TC.

I prefer to start with the regular version, then watch the special editions after .

Flag police here, you are posting the dutch flag. For that I'll have to spank you underwater.

Watched the 4K last night with my wife and we were really impressed with the AI Up-scaling. This is now the best version of the film hands down.

It's only because, like Titanic, this was the least AI'd film of the bunch.

And it wasn't an upscale. This started as a 4k master from a... relatively... new scan of the OCN's. More than likely if the pandemic hadn't delayed the original release schedule, we would not be dealing with AI manipulation at all.

That's an automatic Academy Award for any actor or actress who survives that!

Picked up my copy of Abyss at Walmart (Canada) for 24.97. They had three copies and now are left with two lol. Amazing price too. When I seen them I ran over and grabbed it because I wasn't sure how many were left

One thing that bugged me watching the Abyss for the first time was the actress. The entire time I was thinking "I've seen that face before...who in the world is that?"

...oh.
