Yeah, noticed the topside minatures looked much less "real" than Ive remembered, and everyone is so smooth... but it has been 20 years or so when I watched. Bought the dvd home from Frys to watch on my widescreen Sony crt, bummed then it wasnt anamorphic!
Think its funny considering the menu art is super grainy! Wassamatta Jim, I thought you were on top of these things! |

Maybe not all 4K Blu-ray players are able to handle AI discs?

Ehhhhhhh. This is easily the bestest-looking one out of this Cameron UHD trifecta - bestest as in "not looking like a total AI guesstimation of the film" - so that's got as much to do with it as anything. True Lies was just as eagerly awaited and had only been available to many on a non-anamorphic DVD, just like The Abuse, but it's getting brutalised in that thread.

I thought AI Titanic was the very best of the bunch.

Christ, I looked at my dad because him and I watched it and gave him a funny look because the footage was so off-putting, I even switched back to the Theatrical Edition and it looked the same (Yes, I watched the Special Edition because that's the version James Cameron and other people said to watch, especially where it was my first time seeing the movie)

Just finished the movie and enjoyed it greatly!
What could have made it even better of course would have been the presence of filmic grain. There was some during select scenes, but I doubt that it was a realistic reproduction of the movie's theatrical appearance! Nevertheless, I'm still quite happy about this (long overdue!) release and I'll not hesitate to rewatch it soon, despite the relative absence of grain... If this release is all we're gonna get, well... ok! It's not perfect, but it'll do! |
