Such an excessive, overpriced, indulgent, demanding, glorious thing, this movie. Those long tales that show off the massive sets. The methodical pacing. The feel of living with the blue collar characters, who ring true with so many examples in my history. Wonderful acting, all. Just good stuff.

Never owned this movie on an HD format, but I watched my VHS tape to shreds, so this will be a significant update for me, no matter what.
That said, I hope, they'll get it right.... ![]() |

This movie, I don't know how to explain it properly but it's so GRAND.
The intimidating heavy machinery, the sky high stakes, the tension of it all. Sometimes I would pop the bootleg HD version that I have of the special edition and be like: Dang. I love JC movies because more often than not it's different people trapped in the most extraordinary situation he could come up with. Will definitely be getting this disc because regardless of nitpicks it's gonna be the best it has ever looked on home video anyway and as long as that breathtakingly intense resuscitation scene is there, I'm game. |

Vinegar Syndrome has been putting out some beautifully-colored older films on UHD, though they tend to push things a bit too saturated at times. Synapse's Suspiria is a stunner with Argento's use of gels and lighting, and that restoration really comes to life by Synapse. The Italian UHD is dreadful in comparison - the colors are much duller and not at all what could be considered accurate or as intended. Arrow's Flash Gordon was incredible, and I expect their Barberella UHD to be alive with color as well. Most of their UHD output of older films has been pretty great color-wise lately. Their Argento UHDs have looked great. Silent Running isn't the most colorful film but the color is still beautiful on that one. Those are just a few off the top of my head. |

Roughly 7% of men have some sort of color-blindness. It's actually something that is considered quite a bit in the board-gaming world today. Many game manufacturers pay a lot of attention on picking colors that are color-blind friendly so they don't rule out that whole group just because they can't tell what color they are on the board. Different shapes, patterns, and color-blind-safe colors for different bits to help players identify their own pieces from others. Of course there are different types of color-blindness too so that doesn't make it easy. Last edited by mar3o; 11-17-2023 at 02:58 PM. |

The Abyss is really a masterpiece. I love all those films (and merely quite like True Lies from what I remember) but this one and T2 imo are at the very top.

If the PQ is up to par, these three releases (particularly Abyss) will get a LOT of use from me! I'll probably watch Abyss about once a month lol. So many great moments.
Couldn't watch the ProRes trailer. It's a download that took me a site called Team Up or something. Couldn't be bothered with all that. |

no i agree, i was quite mistaken that the YT video would be accurate bc there wouldn't be any grain to compress, but there's a nice layer of natural fine grain (even chroma noise too), the DNR reminds me of Crying Freeman/Cardcaptor Sakura's restorations (ik im a weeb lol) so not a 100% wax job
