At the moment, I mostly order from WowHD UK. They don't charge for shipping and most of the time, which makes them cheaper than Amazon US for recent US releases. Other than that I mostly stick to Amazon UK, US and Italy, even France for "The Name of the Rose" 4K.

Nope. Simply English, comprehension, and understanding logic. I was not combative (or even my normal snarky) and tried to help you see where the issue lay... this was (apparently) futility, as you do not have those elements and would rather just rant and peddle tired, played out arguments. Sigh... you do you.
I wish I had free time like you to write long paragraphs and indulging in arguments and debates. Actually I do have time but I don't bother. I believe in what LordoftheRings mentioned below.

Exactly my point. I hope now you don't become the target of "this is the reason studios put these inferior transfers because people like you buys them" because I have been there several times.

Thank you. I ll check them out. They don't charge for shipping? You mean no charges for international shipping?

Free shipping, but they charge the destinations sales tax at checkout if applicable.

I would think that not sweating the small stuff would be coming into a forum or thread and not getting upset about anything that is being discussed...?

I was currently watching this movie on Hulu because in the True Lies thread someone told me it's pretty much the same transfer including the AI and should give me a good idea as to what the UHD might look like. I guess it looks okay, but it's the theatrical cut. I don't like the theatrical cut.

The same reply as above.

Well then respect other person's opinion with whome you disagree. In every thread I see someone who is literally bullied just because he doesn't agree with the majority.

Thanks. I wanted to ask what's with this release out of stock or what? I see it's sold by a third party seller on Amazon US who is charging 13 dollars to ship inside US. Every listing I found is higher priced. Is it selling so fast?
The bolded part is very true. Well, I don't know if it should be called bullying, but one does get very contemptuous replies at times. Or then some very stupid and immature memes with zero information on the replies. And all of this just because you don't agree with the opinion that these "we know better" people on the forum represent. Take a look at the Aliens thread for example.

For me, I don't even care what other people think of a release or picture quality. If we still use Aliens as an example, it looks absolutely fantastic TO ME. And that is because I personally hate the very dated grainy picture. We have tools to make it look much more pleasant to the eye today, and thankfully those have been used. Now I completely understand that someone else does prefer the grainy picture, and is more interested in preservation of the movie. Then again, I don't think there is an absolute "this is how it should look like" definition. And if their is, the director would be the best bet to represent that. One forum member even said that I don't value the opinions of other members. Like I just said, I really don't care that much what other people think of the movies, but still they are just as good as mine. What sets me off though, is when someone is posting something stupid like "NO ONE should buy these movies". Of course I buy a movie, if the movie is watchable and the picture quality is how I like it. I'm not trying to tell people NOT TO BUY those grainy releases, which looks shitty to me.

I'm also a non-native english speaker, so there is a significant room for misunderstandings, but I don't find this forum to be very friendly overall.

Oh, I have to add one funny thing here. On the Aliens thread, there has been discussion about the detail being in the grain - which is true - but then again someone is complaining how the dnr'd clean picture reveals the brackets of alien constructions.

I'm not charged for international shipping, which I also felt was too good to be true, on my first order.
One the other hand, you'll have to keep checking their prices and ask for a refund yourself, if it drops within a couple of days after reception. Unlike Amazon, they don't have pre-order price guarantee.

Aliens 4K looks like microwaved dogshit.
True Lies also looks like microwaved dogshit.
Titanic is serviceable but has visible issues.
The Abyss has its share of issues as well but it looks the best of the bunch.

Ok I'm finally starting to watch the Abyss in 4k, first off outside of the obvious AI nonsense. What the actual f#$% Disney and Cameron? I get the extended cut is pushing 3 hours long. But the encoding on this film is a joke so early on, so far the shot with that pans underwater to introduce us to Ed Harris' character. The bitrate takes a nosedive to sub 10mbps and the banding is painfully obvious. It's insane how much real estate on the discs are just left unused. Like why even use a BD-100 if you aren't going to actually use all the space or take advantage of it?

Didn't spot any banding (not encode related anyway) in that shot. And keep in mind the branching is taking up more disc space than you think.

I pre-ordered the 4K from Amazon Spain, and it came in at a grand total of £23.

I posted elsewhere that I hate the artwork all copies are saddled with (and the Spanish copy is just called "Abyss"), so the wife came up with a retro cover for it.

That is great! Love the old BBFC logos. Any advice on the best way to get this printed in the UK, given that I have no access to a suitable printer of my own? I've never known where to go for this sort of thing.

Exactly. I totally understand what you mean and these folks always talks about bitrates and not what is showing on screen. Trust me most of them have no clue themselves and they just follow the opinion on the so called experts here. By experts I mean the same guys who grab a sheet and write down specs of the disc and there are a couple of them but they get support from other members because their word is considered final lol.

I can see every thread is having complains and just complains. I don't support Cameron's vision and what he is doing with his movies but they are not as bad as guys here claim it to be and the comments that got me is when they say their DVD looks better than the current 4k. I don't know if to express my concern over this or laugh.
