Is there any information out there that gives the details as to how these AI upscales are done? That would be an interesting watch.

Buy "Topaz Video AI".
Then, click "Enhancement" and change Output Resolution from 2k, to 4k.
Pixel Type: Original Pixel Type
Video Type: Progressive

Put these scale parameters to the following...
Add Noise: 0
Recover Detail: 45
Focus Fix: Normal
Grain: 'Apply Grain' for The Terminator. Uncheck box for other JC releases.
Input Condition: Medium Quality

Ensure framerate is standard (should be 23.976 fps, but who knows with Park Road).

Enable the "SDR to HDR" button to add the minimal HDR bits.

Stabilization: Off, because it might cause some things to require review before changing and/or removing in some scenes. That would take time, and we all know James Cameron reviews each pixel of every frame. But he'll only do this ONCE, so don't waste his time!!

Then, click "Export as..." and save to hard drive.
Wait an hour or two.

Look at it for a few seconds at a time as you skip through the video file to make sure it shows some video.

Then, have James Cameron go over every pixel and frame before pressing to disc.

It's a while since I've watched this so I'm not sure if it shows exactly how the AI works but he examines the end results (on True Lies and Aliens)

Nah, nothing fudgy at all. You were correct, it could just be read more than one way. (thus my mistaken assumption) In fact, I would argue that even with that ambiguity, you're doing better than many people where English is their first language. (a subject for another time)
