$20/ticket here in Orlando. I was definitely surprised by the price and had to think on it before buying two tickets. Prices have definitely rose in the last year or two, by at least $5/ticket for Dolby Cinema.

I was here to get The Abyss on video. A theatrical showing is nice, but it's only a few days and a significant savings. Tickets, food, parking...it all adds up.

Well, there's one thing I can't get at home and that's a 60-foot screen and theatrical sound.

Over a month ago I had a pleasure of, for the first time in my life, watching Beetlejuice on the big screen. The 2K, SDR projection was obviously worse looking than the UHD on my OLED, but the experience of watching it with the audience was priceless and simply amazing.

Some of us have anxiety issues and can’t deal with crowds, which sucks.

The last film I saw in the theatre was, Gravity.

I mean, yeah. The reason I enjoy my theater is because I get something there I don't get, no matter how good my 55'' LG OLED CX is, and that is, proper big screen for the scope movies, and surround. I have to live with TV speakers (even if they're good) because I can't afford to have a proper surround system.

I thought it was established - people go to theaters for the experience it brings. Some people don't get it and can just watch the movie on their house later with no issue, that's okay. But some also want sometimes the experience.

Also, damn, Dolby Cinema is that expensive, maybe I should be thankful it's not in my cinema or it'd jack up prices, all I wanted was just Dolby Vision in my theater :P

I am willing to come to your house and kick the back of your chair, chew loudly and watch/listen to youtube videos on my phone while you watch The Abyss when the UHD comes out.

Once you've been to a Dolby Cinema, it's pretty hard to go back. The experience is incredible.

Do you charge extra for the occasional cough/sneeze?

Not anxiety for me (although that is an issue, luckily it's not from crowds) but for health reasons we don't go to the movies often. (I can't sit still for longer than 30min or so before my whole body starts hurting wicked bad) I try to suck it up a bit and go a couple times a year because my husband likes it. But due to the crowds we see stuff at like 1pm on a wednesday, he plays hookie from work to do it. The last 5 movies we've seen we've been by ourselves or with at most 4 other people. It's great! I know people like the experience, but I've only had maybe 3 really good times at the movies since I was younger.

I'm sorry about your anxiety but I'm pretty sure you understand and respect that the theater experience is important to some people?

Of course!

If I didn’t have anxiety issues, I’d definitely be at the theatre for films I really want to see.

The best theatre interaction I ever had was during, Beavis and Butthead Do America.

Never saw anything like that before or after with an audience.

Got tickets for the wife and I at an AMC Dolby Cinema. First time we've ever watched a movie in one so should be a treat. $17 a pop + fees = $43.

I think they're advertising this re-release poorly or nobody in my area of Ohio cares. Barely any seats sold and these are in major cities.

Same, haven't been to a theater since 2019 for the end of the MCU run, won't ever go again I have no reason to. I went to theaters since I was a kid and it just isn't the same anymore for me I'd rather watch at home where I'm in charge. The best part is I can watch Repo Man 4 times in a row for free and no one complains.
