Maybe the next Aquaman if he weren’t up to his eyeballs in blue people movies. Cameron’s got a thing for water. I bet he’s a big fan of Waterworld. Imagine a JC version of that one. He would probably show 1,000 foot waves washing over everything lol

Cameron is best doing his own thing and not taking over an established franchise, Aliens was the exception cause nobody else was right for it and he'd make a similar movie regardless.

He was suppose to direct a spiderman movie.. Sam Raimi did a better job.

I would have loved to see his vision for Spider-Man. A Spider-Man film in the mid-90s would have blown people's minds. Also, because it's Cameron, I think it would have aged beautifully, and would be regarded as a classic today, changing the course of history in regard to cinema and the superhero genre.

Isn't Cameron one of the few human beings ever who have descended to the Mariana Trench, the deepest point in the ocean, and extremely dangerous?

Don't forget "Aliens of the Deep."

The outlier is "Ghosts of the Abyss."

After reading some of his script -- I think I'm happy with Raimi's version.

I can think of why this scene was altered. The scene in question caused problems in the UK (due to the animal cruelty laws) and was mostly cut and reframed in various versions. Its likely they did this change to get around making a separate censored version for the UK like in the past.
This is hilarious because if they did try to revise the scene to make it more politically correct, it would violate the whole point of the scene. It would prove that the censors missed the meaning of the scene. It's also interesting to read that some sensitive Brits already missed the point the first go-round.

Plus think the some poor kid Jimbo would have swinging from a 200-hundred-foot crane through the streets.

The "script" that was being used when Cameron was supposedly in serious contention likely would've been largely reworked or scrapped entirely. It's more of plot outline than a script anyways and built upon past failed treatments from other writers.

The Batman and Spidey aren't the same, you can limit Batman, but you need to see Spidey do Spidey things and I don't think you could do it in the '90s.

That really emphasises my point, see how limited Batman's actions are? don't get me wrong, I like Forever, but that scene is cut around the technology of optical and digital effects. The superstylized nature and the darkness of Gotham helps.

Compare Raimi's Spider-Man. Look, I'm not saying you couldn't make a Spider-Man picture in the mid-'90s, but it might have done more harm to the superhero genre than good.

All this discussion about Cameron and Spider-Man makes me think what if Kubrick had accepted to make Lord Of The Rings with The Beatles playing the hobbits.

So is the UK definitely not getting this or are we still in a "wait and see... maybe" phase?
