There was a recent Indian film, Leo, which is basically the same story, but is TERRIBLE.

All of the subtlety and menace of A History of Violence is just thrown out the window. It also made me realize that, aside from the excellent direction and writing, Ed Harris is a HUGE part in making that movie work.

He is legit terrifying in the role, the scene where he confronts his wife still gives me the creeps.

4. True Lies - Faces look too defined like sharpness was turned up at tad too much
I'm gonna get Abyss and Aliens on physical but skip the True Lies 4k disc. I just ordered the spain version instead.

I'm very happy with the Titanic 4k disc.

How come nobody includes the Avatar 4k disc in these rankings?

The Abyss seems to look pretty darn good overall.

It did, but it's probably the same situation as with Titanic, True Lies and Aliens - it wasn't a recent scan.

2012 scan maybe? Same era as the original Titanic BD?

A bit hyperbolic. Even you have ack'd that there are things wrong with each of these recent JimCams. It doesn't change whether or not you can enjoy them, but nobody should be able to say "nothing" is wrong. Ignoring compression issues from streaming (or just exclusively looking at the k-scape version), even someone with Coke-bottle glasses can see issues in the source on this 4k.

Again, the actual enjoyment of it will vary with individuals, which is human, but you can't deny problems exist.

Ed Harris was great on HBO’s Westworld series.

YES! My roommates and I in college used to watch the outtakes from the criterion disc all the time for laughs. He was nuts! The part with the prop phone not working correctly and Ed just seething with rage had me on the ground laughing.

Look, when people are discussing their dissatisfaction to a restoration, and someone likes it but others don't, you have to double down, or even double THAT, to make a point and ensure others that your perspective is relevant.

Because that 4k disc has been around for a while now. These 4 just got released in 4k basically together. So it makes sense

Also, I prefer the 4K of true lies than the bootleg bluray. Pros outweigh the cons. Atmos Sound is killer And the disc should look even better.
