I know that the colors are muted in the second UHD, but that's due to the HDR being converted to SDR. Don't mind it.
Nope

Sounds about right since I consider it the greatest movie ever made.

Lol what? I have no idea how you can say there's "Literally no increase in detail in the 4k transfer". There's way more detail. It isn't hard to see.

Nice work! I prefer the look of the TLE overall but the lack of blue is puzzling. I specifically remember this barbed wire scene being very dark and very blue in 35mm, not this weak teal (but not as bright/boosted as the synapse either).

Anyway regarding the UHD is there any reason not to import the Italian one? Cult Films isn't releasing a standard version, and it's the same disc anyway? What was the rumored German edition supposed to do better?

IT UHD disc and UK UHD disc use the exact same ecoding reg: PQ... Torsten claimed that the forthcoming DE UHD disc will use a better encoding (with a BD-100 instead a BD-66) but as of today there is no street date yet...

I must say I also prefer the UHD for Suspiria. The detail and grain resolution create a more immersive visual experience, and the colors look more accurate to the two 35mm prints I’ve seen in theaters. I totally understand why many prefer the Synapse restoration, and it’s inarguably a beautiful transfer, but those blown out colors definitely feel just a tad revisionist, IMO.

At the end of the day, it’s just great to have to this movie available in such terrific releases, whichever one may prefer.

I've been saying this a lot lately, but I'll say it again: U on crack m8? Are you looking at these images with your eyes closed? Have glaucoma perhaps? I hear that weed helps with that.

Yeah, even without expanding the images to the larger size, I could tell an increase in detail.

"Literally no increase in detail..."

Sounds like someone's trying to justify not buying into the format.

Seems to be quite a bit of that on the forum and online in general as of late.

That's fine and all, but why do they insist on coming into the UHD sub-forum and posting if that's what they are intending to do. They're not going to convince those who have invested that they're somehow right or better because we're not buying into it.

Oh well, despite the poo-poo storm that HDR is, I am very, very satisfied with UHD as a whole.

Resistance is fine if it's coming from a fairly well-informed place, like with matey who only likes movies from the '50s and '60s, and people are allowed to kick out against the new format as it's what always happens (check the Chasing Amy commentary for KS and co saying "**** DVD!"). It's when someone's bias is so strong that they can't actually see what's right in front of them that both baffles and amuses me.

That should be a minimum requirement for anyone posting in this forum.

Sadly, too difficult to enforce. Apparently, it's a surprisingly elite club, though.

I see more detail, because there is more.

There's also more to the image than just detail, all of which UHD is an improvement on. So no, they are not "ripoffs."

His neck also has a ton more texture on the UHD versus the BD.

And with that, I think I will swing by the store to pick this movie up! Looks impressive enough.
There is no more detail whatsoever. I'm looking at the two images on a 4K TV. Whatever difference you see is the result of the two pictures not being the exact same frame. I'll post another pair of pics and make sure that they're the exact same frame this time. Also, you guys are way too sensitive about people not being as crazy about 2K DIs as you all are.
