Love Actually (US BD vs. US 4K replacement vs. US 4K initial pressing)

I eventually added the replacement disc. I reused my previous caps except for where I didn't (for the life of me) find the proper frame in a timely manner anymore and therefore just did new ones. Since I initially didn't want to highlight the poor compression, which we had settled already, but the benefits of the 4K, I also added a couple of piss poor compression ones. Not that the compression was good anywhere, but there were layers. Sometimes (#9 for ex) the garbage of the poor compression gives the impression of more texture (and the new one isn't perfect either), but I didn't confuse the caps.

I didn't double check all for the proper frame, but most if not all should match.

may I ask some of you guys if you can check what happened here between the two 4k Men In Black releases:

the DV release appears to be cooled down in the color grading, resulting in a bit drab and dull look. but CAH could simply have screwed up the caps. unfortunately i don't have the first release anymore and i can't check myself- thanks in advance

Thanks for these caps! They’re a great proof that these huuuge 18 MB/s DV FEL layers are all but filling in what’s removed in HDR10 layer. Turns out no fine detail was ever persevered in the first place. This is mediocre encoding through and through.

It seems the caps were just tone-mapped differently. The colors appear fine.

Yup, no such difference there. I appretiate what caps is doing, but I said it before and I'll say it again, they started to become utterly misleading by not comparing 4Ks properly by comparing with often obviously completely different settings. And so one doesn't know when that's the case and when it's not.

Didn't bother with the frames, but also took two from both discs - yours and the yellow cabs.

I'm convinced that the Nolan Batman films could look a lot better on UHD. I know the original blu rays were terribly sharpened and overly processed, but I think I can see detail in the BD which is just sandblasted away in the UHD and I don't think all of it is "sharpening placebo detail".
