Body Double Indicator BD vs Sony UHD

203 nits

I've adjusted the tonemapping settings to more closely approximate how the HDR10 layer will appear, rather than using my usual settings to showcase recovered highlight detail. I believe I've struck a good balance between the two approaches.

I'm open to informed suggestions for improving my procedures, so feel free to PM me

That’s interesting re. your improved settings. Whatever brings us closer to the actual source is great. I assume you’ll then use different settings for your FEL caps as we’ve already gotten everything from extra brightness to a more dim look in DV compared to HDR when labels work poorly. If your caps can reflect that, it’d be brilliant. The strongest case I’ve encountered was Gandahar by Le chat qui fume which looks totally washed out in DV but as soon as you select the SDR or HDR layer it’s like an explosion of colors and definitely the way the master was intended. They have another title in that vein where it’s almost as drastic.

That is true in Body Double’s case as well since the DV is mostly maxed at 170 nits while the HDR10 is more active and goes all the way to 1000 nits regularly. I will post the graphs later as the power is out right now.

Anyone have A Bittersweet Life Second Sight 4K vs Umbrella blu? Especially a shot around the 35 minute mark where the framing is supposedly fixed on the 4K. Interested to see how the grain / contrast compares mainly though

Does anyone have screencaps of the Disney+ 4K remasters for Ice Age 1-4 and Rio?

IIRC they all have a slightly expanded image, and they look brighter and more vibrant/natural than Fox’s old HD masters, which were used for the DVD and Blu-Ray releases.
