Based on what I am seeing this is no upgrade at all. It appears the Universal Blu-ray which I own used a 4K restoration.

Definitely a slight resolution / grain upgrade but I can see someone being fine with the blu

The grain looks kind of odd on the BFI version. The CC looks like its handling grain better. There's also a lot of scratches on the BFI in some scenes. Yes, the contrast is better on the BFI, but I like the CC too. Seems like both have their pluses and minuses.

Criterion has better encoding than the 20th Century Fox release but it seems like it'd be incredibly difficult to notice in motion. Will simply hold onto the studio release.

Also thank you very much ko8ebryant24 for doing these caps, they are an invaluable resource. Caps-a-holic updates infrequently these days so the work you are doing is a godsend in terms of figuring out what release to go with, upgrade to or not, etcetera.

I get the wrong order of the screenshots on this one where they don't line up for comparison starting from screenshot 7. There's a duplicate from screenshot 6, so from 7 and on they're mismatched when you compare them.
