Hilarious that Fincher added a CG lightbulb in one scene and it's not there in the follow-up scene

That door. How do you even explain physics and that bag hanging off the other doorknob... or the curtain remnant still there, or the door-on-door action, or...

Yeah, pretty funny what annoys someone enough to make those changes.

That door looks much closer to Pitt than the curtain or the other door. The new door doesn't look like it's touching the curtain or other door or the bag on the other door. So, don't know what you're talking about.

But it is funny why some directors are obsessed with making minute changes to their old movies.

I actually had another thought, and that is Fincher found the curtains on the left to be distracting once he was doing the 8K restoration or HDR grading, so he figured, hey, what if we just have a door there instead, lol. It is funny how obsessive he is, but at least he didn't Cameron this up and destroy the image. I have a feeling he will take any lessons from Se7en and perhaps Panic Room and Fight Club will improve further, as he did tell Collider, if done right, we shouldn't really be noticing the changes. Highly improbable he reads forums like this, but maybe some publicist or close friend will tell him what the reception has been to the AI changes and anything else, haha.

I’m also very relieved that he didn’t take out the grain or, to put it another way, maybe he actually did as initially rumored and that’s why the whole project got delayed. One poster here still mentioned that the grain didn’t look entirely natural though but that’s not true, right?

People have weird ideas about grain these days. I think it looks consistent with the downscaling from 8K and meticulous work done to clean up the scanned negative and not AI or fake grain, personally. It also lines up with the film stock used according to a report from someone who worked with it. I think if grain is too noticeable and it's not a creative intention like 16mm film or low budget style, it just slightly, distracts from the cinematic experience, but that's me.

Se7en looks very good in motion, I wouldn't worry about what people say.

Dunno, the light hitting the sheet hanging on the bed under Pitt is coming from the sun that is now covered by the fake door. The angle isn't right anymore, at least to me. The new door looks like it's trying to emulate a double door with that other one open, but it's too flat and weird. But hey, of it works for you, cool beans. It's certainly not a deal-breaker, regardless of your view.

And yes, very funny indeed.

I guess no one told Fincher that movies looking too clean these days is, IMHO, a part of why they often suck.

Won't be buying because it's Kino but even so, it looks heavily sharpened in those caps.

Green Room

Lionsgate BD vs Second Sight UHD HDR10

100 nits

It's possible Second Sight removed a green tint that was added to the Lionsgate to give the BD more "pop".

That blu ray is horrific. The stream looks far better but the bitrate looks quite low, lots of blocking.

Updated the link - initially had the tonemapping curve in ST2094 which made it a bit too dark, now it is in BT2390 and looks much better
