1080p/24---->4K/24 I feel that is misleading because it looks as though it is a 1080 signal upconverted into 4K |

You must have your Denon scaling turned on then.
If it was off it should show 1080p/24---1080p/24 |

Something is not set right IMO if you are sending a 4K title and the Denon is saying 1080p/24. Almost sounds like the player is not outputting 2160p.
If I have a 1080p blu in the Samsung, my Denon reports 2160p/24 ycbcr 444 8 bits, in and out (because I have the 8500 Rez set to auto). If I have a UHD disc in it reports 4k/24 BT2020 10 bit in and out. |

That is because your Denon is scaling it seems. Your Denon should report accurately what is coming from the samsung, and if it says 1080p/24 and you samsung should be sending 2160p/24, something aint right.

Bottom line is the the Denon always says 1080/24 no matter what I play. If I play something on Roku then it says 1080/60...But when it comes to 4K content it says 1080/24--->4K/24, and that is with the Denon video input set on Auto

As a general rule, if you don't have updated 18 Gbps certified HDMI cables, you may run into a bandwidth problem as well. If you are routing through a receiver, it better be updated for HDMI 2.0a or no HDR pass through for you, and if it doesn't have HDCP 2.2 compliant ports, HDMI one on the player must go to the display, and HDMI two goes to the receiver for audio. |

Cons: -remote is aweful, but u can use your samsung tv remote for some commands if u want -No native resolution pass through -main settings can't be adjusted during any playback. You must go back to the home screen to adjust things such as resolution output. -currently the user settings can't be adjusted unless you're watching a uhd blu ray but those settings still apply when watching apps. Contrast/color/brightness PROS: -fast loading -apps all work great, Amazon has hdr now. -picture for uhd blu ray is great but varies from disc to disc. Overall it's a nice product for the price. I'll be upgrading to oppo later in the year though. Til then it allows me to watch all the 4k hdr goodness. |

I have the HDR Hard drive to download the 4k movie on MGO vanity. Wich one should have better quality the hard drive or the disc? For the app I think is better to use the TV one as they are the same. Not a big fan of the app thats why Im getting the player to have the 4k disc that will be a better quality than streaming with internet be a factor to play. |

Typically your backlight will turn all the way up and your contrast will go to 100. On my samsung 2016 ks8000 it actually notifies me with a popup saying that is is playing an HDR video which I love. On the Amazon app, check out the pilot episode of Mad Dogs...it's free and one of my absolute favorite examples of HDR. |

If so, you want to use the apps in the player, discs for the best A/V quality, and use the HDMI cable from Port 2 to the receiver so it does the audio decoding for the best possible soundtrack quality. The TV cannot pass lossless or higher grade lossy audio, but the player can if set to HDMI bitstream audio out (with secondary audio shut off). Only use the optical cable from the TV if you are watching antenna based local HD channels and utilizing the TV's built-in tuner. |

I never noticed, but according to AVS posting this remote works and looks to be much better than the Apple TV remote we got.
