Pausing it for 30 minutes or watching it for 30 minutes. It's just the disc spinning. No extra strain.

Yes. That is correct. I send mine to a powered USB 3.0 hub so I can always keep a small flash drive attached for BD-Live content. And then use the other USB 3.0 ports of the hub to connect flash or hard drives.

Thanks for this - good to know its just individual discs with this behaviour and not the player.

all the same, if you know you are taking such a long time out, why not go back to Main Menu and then hit Scene Selection when you get back to it? Turn off the TV too while you are at it and save energy as well

Thanks, must be a problem with my player then. It won't stay paused for more than 5 seconds every time I've tried it which has been quite a few times.

I think these players are hit or miss...You have the Pause function issue going on. Well, mine wouldn't let me set Color Range to ycbcr 444 without losing video signal. I tried to do a factory reset by holding the Stop button on the plkayer for 5 seconds (as indicated by the instructions) but after a few times it shut off for good, so I had to call the seller and get a replacement issued for next week

So I just hooked up a Samsung 4K player to my Sony 4K TV (Sony XBR65X900C). The display settings say the picture is 3840x2160. Do I need to do anything to get optimal picture? I'm a real noob to this 4K stuff.

Does anyone know if Best Buy has any HDMI 2.0 Cables that are for a good price? I'm getting this player this month, the latest being next month.

Don't mess with bbuy, nor worry about HDMI 2.0 cables. All you need is labeled High Speed. Get some MediaBridge from Amazon or BJC FE series from blue jeans cable.

I don't have that problem but I guess in your case it has something to do with the HDMI control signals which can control other devices. Every manufacturer calls this differently. There is probably some devices that confused the player.

Of course the player has USB 3.0. Otherwise the Samsung UHD Video Pack wouldn't work.

I'm getting this in a few days. Any tips or recommendations for a setup with a Samsung JU7500 TV and a Yamaha HTR-3067 AV Receiver?

Edit: The AV Receiver only has 4K pass through and no HDCP 2.2, so I think I'm pretty much screwed unless if I plug it right into the TV.

Theater is 21:9 vs 16:9 for all home sets so even an 85" screen will get you bars.
You will need a projector that can do anamorphic 21:9 to get rid of any bars.

Or do what i do and watch in the dark so you don't see the bars.

Are you 100% sure your display can handle ycbcr 444 at 4k/60?
That will require HDMI 2.0a gear across the board (AVR also) vs HDMI 2.0

I think they have their insignia brand depending on the length you need they have the 4ft for $9.99, unless you dont mind waiting a couple of days and order online on Amazon or BJC

After a lot of troubleshoiting I realized that the only way to play 4k blurays in 2160 on my Vizio D TV is by directly connecting the uhd player to HDMI 5 on the TV...all other HDMI connections will play disc in 1080

Then that tells me your HDMI ports are not as 4:4:4 @4k compatible as you thought.

It should not matter for 4k blurays since no movie is 4:4:4 color anyway.
