I never said that. But I redeem all UV codes I get with the titles I purchase. And sometimes I get a UV code for a title instead of renting them.(Like I originally had planned to with the Fifth Wave and Angry Birds UHD UV codes) Since the UV code is around the same price or less than renting.

I have come to the conclusion that at least with my TV it doesnt matter what resolution I set on the player, if the bluray is HD it will play in 1080 and if the tbluray in in UHD it will play in 2160. Basically the resolution settings in the player do not make any difference

Really?, with mine if I set to Auto(which I would prefer to do and just leave it there) UHD's play at 2160p but blurays get upscaled.

Manual resolution settings in the player seems to be useless in my opinion. |

I definitely prefer the picture when my TV does the upscaling compared to the player. What I notice when player upscales to 2160 is pixilation, blocking and more artifacts during motion scenes. There is more detail but also more noise?, not sure of the technical term just know I don't like the picture

(a) if I have player on 1080 and play UHD movie, movie will play in UHD 2160 (b) if I have player on 2160 and I play a HD movie, movie will play in HD 1080 So basically we really dont have to flip back and forth from 1080 to 2160 and viceversa...Ultimately IT is the disc we play that determines what resolution will be utilized by the player, not the resolution settings on the player |

If I have it set at 2160p or Auto and play a bluray, the TV will get an upscaled 2160p signal. I want my TV to get a 1080p signal for blurays and do the upscaling
So there is a difference, at least for my eyes, is what I'm trying to say |

And what do you think happens the other way around, if you set player at 1080 and play a UHD disc?

Sorry not sure what your saying here, the disc is not deciding what resolution the player outputs tho, it's the resolution setting.
Auto setting selects the maximum resolution your TV supports so it will select 2160 for both UHD and Bluray. |

What i am saying is taht no matter what resolution I slect the disc will play in HD if its is a HD movie or UHD if it is a UHD movie. Settting resolution at 1080 or 2160 deosnt change the result

Hmm, maybe your TV is doing something mine is not.
I would def prefer to leave it at one setting and just play both formats but mine is not doing that |

Hi im looking at a Atmos capable system and came across the Samsung HW-K950 which seems good, but it only outputs dts as stereo which is a problem.
However i read that some players have a re-coding feature or something along those lines which would change the dts sources into dolby digital so i could make use of surround. So my question is does this player or any other player for that matter have this feature? |

Put your money into a proper receiver with true speakers plus overhead or height speakers, and a subwoofer. Yes, it might be a little more of an investment, but the quality of sound and immersive experience will be miles and miles ahead. Also, besides Dolby Atmos there is DTS: X, which that soundbar doesn't even support, let alone multi-channel DTS decoding, which is on a majority of Blu-ray discs. Very, very few players these days, if any, will convert DTS and DTS Master Audio lossless to Dolby. We can guide you in the right direction if you're willing to look at alternatives. |

Run far away from all soundbars!, I just switched and Filmfreak helped me sort out a system. True surround is definitely the way to go

Soundbars have their place and can be useful. If you have a second smaller room, if the wife doesnt want speakers and wires in the living room, there are many situations when a soundbar is a good alternative to a 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound system

I have tried 2 of these players and neither have worked. All I get is a flashing red standby light. No picture or menu at all. It's been quite frustrating. Has anyone else encountered this issue?
