I called Best Buy and phone person said they couldn't convert my shipping status to store pickup. However she said that I will be getting it on the 10th since that was my guaranteed delivery date. So hopefully she's right.

Yep. I've got the martian and Scorch Trials 2 on order that I also own on mgo so I'll be comparing for sure!

Side note, its a little disappointing to see sony not offer "after earth" on disc, because between the hdr and true 4k resolution it was amazing looking, top 3 in my list for visuals of all the hdr movies.

I seriously doubt there will be a problem getting one of these. As of now, Amazon has dropped the ball in my book.

My best buy order was still in pending. When I called the agent had to check with a supervisor. The supervisor said for some reason mine showed it had gone into "preparing to ship" then back to "pending" and now the system shows the player is backordered. When you go on BB.com it still shows you can order it for release date delivery. She said to try calling back mid day tomorrow to see if it was a computer glitch. I gave up and ended up ordering from Crutchfield. Saves me tax and will only be a couple days later than best buy anyway.

Can't wait to hear what you think of the new tech - as in actual impressions - obviously you liked it enough to adopt.

I never bought a standalone Blu-ray player (only PS3:s) and only had a couple of DVD players (all Pioneers) - so I doubt Sammy will be my player of choice. Sony, Pioneer, Panasonic and Oppo will be my candidates - Oppo based on their region free history. Nonetheless it will be great to hear input from you guys.

According to well informed sources Samsung UBD-K8500 will be introduced in France on Thursday (Feb 11 2016) at a Samsung presentation in Monaco.

Best Buy still has my order listed as preparing for shipment. It's been that way for 2 1/2 days. I'm gonna call them in a little bit, cuz I don't see how I can receive this by tomorrow if they still haven't sent it off in the mail. And I preordered the sucker nearly 4 weeks ago, so I don't wanna hear any backordered BS.

UPDATE: Just got off the phone with them. Best Buy is saying now that it should ship later today or tomorrow at the latest and arrive by 2/11. The woman I spoke to claims that the 2/10 release date is only if you order with express shipping(1-day), not expedited. I think that's a load of BS since a lot of people have claimed their orders have shipped already and are scheduled to arrive tomorrow. And unfortunately she said she couldn't switch to in-store pickup since their system shows the item technically isn't available in stores right now. So it either ships today and I receive it (hopefully)by Thursday or it doesn't ship today and I call them tomorrow morning and try to get it switched over to in-store pickup. Either way, I'll be calling them back when this little episode is over and complaining. To claim that you can't have something delivered to you on its release date unless you pay $11.49 extra for overnight shipping is absurd.

I have had preparing for shipment for over 2 days now but I ordered on Jan 15. I may call them just for kicks but I don't expect anything until this Friday and I didn't get any extra shipping speed. You're right, that is bogus.

My order was 1/21. I originally ordered it on 1/7 when it first was listed, but I cancelled and reordered so I could use some My Best Buy gift certificates(which drove down the sales tax cost as well). This is why I haven't cancelled and ordered it elsewhere.

If I get it on Thursday, it's not a big deal. I'm not gonna be happy about the delay given that I have Elite Plus status, expedited shipping, and I preordered it 3 weeks in advance, so I may still have a word with their customer service. But since the earliest I can possibly get any UHD discs is 2/11, that's the soonest I'll really be able to take the player for a test drive.
