I would say that the player is the horse. You can use the player (horse) without the discs (cart), but not the other way around.

Putting aside the excitement of a new toy, i believe it is actually good to get the player early so you can work out all the kinks in your setup (as best as possible) prior to the first UHD disc.

Lastly I'm even more curious how it handles all my existing media (physical and digital) since I hope this player will be my one stop shop.

Mine shipped from BB with a tracking #. Now if only I can find some movies. And I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll play on my 1080p projector!

I agree. I've got a 4K TV, I'm anxious for Ultra HD discs, but I don't see the need to rush into a frenzied state to track these down, when there's more 4K content available on Amazon and Netflix, than media in the stores or on Amazon. Add to the fact it's a Samsung player, which I think are among the worst or the worst, when it comes to early generation player performance, and I'm fine to wait.

When Panasonic or Sony introduce a player for under $350, then I'll buy in.

The likely "kinks" will be media compatibility issues with the player, or the players themselves being unreliable on 4K media. If your "setup" is good for Blu-Ray, it's going to be fine for Ultra HD Blu-Ray.

Someone already connected theirs to their 1080p player I thought

True, but I don't think they've run any UHD content yet.

Currently my setup doesn't have a bluray player connected, I took it out a couple of months ago when I setup my Nvidia SHIELD that and the 3D player I was using was having issues.

I agree that the player itself will have kinks (hopefully all that can be fixed with firmware updates), but I got a bunch of recent blurays (that don't have a UHD version announced) that I would love to start watching this weekend.

Question if you have no interest in the Samsung UHD player, why post in this thread?

Because for all intents and purposes, this is the de facto thread to discuss 4K Blu-ray players. No other threads exist.
