Yes any tv or projector, should at least experiment.

Also, turning uhd color on the tv combined with RBG enhanced seem to work very well together.

I will experiment more later.

Someone else at AVS brought this to my attention.

Those pictures are hard to tell apart. So far the darbee has more visible results. Thanks for your efforts in posting them.

Brighter
More vibrant

Also opens up hdmi black level setting on your tv, which adjusted can alleviate the black crush that alot of people have ever reported.

Feel free to experiment.
Yes, I discovered the exact same thing!! It makes a HUGE difference and definitely alleviates black crush!

Just hooked up my 4k samsung player to my samsung 8700. Getting message that it doesn't support hdcp 2.2, try changing port which I have or change display. One reviewer said to change hdmi port to enhanced from standard. Anybody got an idea what I need to do?

Just need to figure out what to pickup. Trying really hard not to double dip. I'm not against it, just not at the $30 price tag. Leaning towards Exodus.
just ordered one from Amazon myself. Still no sign of a delivery date. Really hoping I hear back soon. Enjoy your player!

I changed my HDMI port setting on my TV from standard to enhanced and it made an amazing difference! There should be some kind of a manual to let you know these things and the correct settings to put everything on.

Thank god i didnt go out and spend top dollar on this samsung 9500 strictly for 4k. Alot of things need to get adjusted. Il let the lab rats get all this down then go out and buy a panel. Until then I will enjoy the 4k resolution with no hdr.

What TV do you have? It depends on that. I have the Sony XBR55X850C.

Its called uhd hdmi color on the samsung tvs. I find that turning it on will dull the picture. This can be somewhat corrected by turning on RGB enhanced on the k8500 settings under color options I believe in the main settings from the home menu.

Yes, sorry, can't help you with that. What happened to the days when the manual that came with the device told you exactly which settings to put everything on? Now it's a total guessing game where you have to figure everything out for yourself or ask other people or look it up online. Shouldn't everything be getting easier instead of more difficult? Especially with all the new technology. You're just expected to be a technology expert now.

This did improve the picture quality greatly, but that HDCP 2.2 error is still showing up. But I'm 99% sure it's playing 4K just fine. Maybe disc lag or something?

Just placed an order for this on Amazon after reading so many positive things on here not just about the 4k, but the upscaling as well. Amazon still shows it as "not in stock" and "will notify when we ship it". Really hoping the wait isn't TOO long. I'm getting impatient over here.

Your best bet is to go to a bby store or other major electronic store, I think there may be a shortage for at least a few weeks to a month.

hhgregg is probably the best place to buy this player, btw.

http://www.hhgregg.com/samsung-4k-ul.../item/UBDK8500

They seem to have them in stock and they have a 11% off discount code which drops $44 off the price with free shipping.

I picked up a unit for $375 and that is after tax.

After testing the K8500 with a few of the initial 4K Blu-ray discs, all of which offer HDR, one thing is clear. If you want to extract the maximum benefit out of this player, you need a high-end HDR-capable TV. When viewed on standard, non-HDR 4K TVs, the discs we tested don't offer any substantial picture quality improvements over standard 1080p Blu-ray discs.

thats one heck of a deal. Thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately I have a $200 Amazon gift card that I was putting towards the purchase. Sort of my way of "reasoning" with myself for the higher price tag. I got the gift card because my TV dropped in price within 30 days so I keep telling myself that I'm getting the player for $200 after the $200 off from gift card.
