At least you acknowledge OLED owners are superior!

All in good fun.

with a Colorimetry Research CR-300 Spectral Radiometer
And due to its features, Sony is promoting it at professional shows like IBC and the last HPA Tech Retreat as the new gold standard.

I’m sure I’m not alone in wondering how the Panny OLED would have fared if it was available in USA? Guess it would have been in top 3 with the Sony and LG ones.

Did the streaming content stay on for the 8K demo? That BMD Sony model should likely best the Z9D on 4K HDR content, as well as showcase 8K content (but the demo material will be showcase worthy anyway. )

perhaps Teoh will do a shootout across the pond and include it?
TG:M is in post production now and the Panny OLED is one of the client monitors

Robert mentioned tomorrow (9:30 NY time) they will be discussing 8K models.

That one I'm really interested in (the Z9G)

Javits Center in NYC.

You mean the underwater scenes; shark country.
You know more than I do Penton.

Well I know you love being on the water https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...t#post15346638
, as do I,….I just assumed you dove too. Anyway, I won’t reveal the location just yet in case there are any divers out there who would like to give it a shot.

I was there (at the afternoon session). All the sets were very, very close (in HDR). On the test patterns, some sets did better on some, other tests did better on others. On movie footage, with the exception of the star field in 2001, in which I thought the Sony OLED looked better, the sets were remarkably close, but again, some sets looked better on some scenes and some sets looked better on other scenes.

(When they ran the black and white test patterns in SDR, all the sets looked crappy.)

I didn't bother to vote because there was no consistent superiority of one set over another in any given category, IMO.

The Samsung sometimes excelled on flesh tones. I also thought it looked better than the Sony on that scene from The Revenant when they're walking in the streams. The streams were clear with white in the background on the Samsung, but they were slightly green on the Sony. But in all other respects, I personally preferred the Sony OLED, but by a very small margin.

Unlike past years, where some of the sets showed clear problems on some tests and images, the sets were so close together that I'm not sure there's a purpose to the shootout anymore until we get to a comparison of 8K sets.

But I do thank Robert for hosting it - it was quite enlightening and I thought the session was especially well run this year as it stayed on point and pretty much on schedule and didn't devolve into a bunch of side conversations.

Nothing like that happened in anyway whatsoever.

What happened is the Samsung Q90R would switch (on its own) to the PC mode when we switched from Kaleidescape to the Panasonic UB9000. It was checked and caught before any presentations were run and in no way was anything done incorrectly with the calibration. In fact, the calibration was perfectly done by Kevin Miller a long term consultant to Samsung on picture quality and top professional calibrator. Kevin is also ISF Level lll instructor.

No other TV switched modes and at no time was any demo done in the wrong mode and to be 100% clear, Samsung's Q90R calibration was calibrated to the best of its ability by one of the world's top calibrators.

Is there a live feed today? So far, I have not been able to find it.

I so wanted to hear/see the discussion of 8K.

Damn hope I didn't make a mistake choosing the C9 over the A9G. Seems like I might have according to this shootout
