Smurfs used a 2K DI. I am showing Smurfs 2 will use a 4K DI, but there's not a even a BD release date yet.

TO THE WONDER was shot almost entirely in Super-35, with limited use of 65mm and a Red One for some night stuff in Paris.

That's correct. That Red One footage is why it's in the list.

Point is, I was hoping you would consider ‘yet to be released’, for if not, right out of the gate your list appears quite diminutive compared to that of L'armée’s.

Otherwise, I guess we’re left with chit-chat topics like what file formats are utilized in the process of a DI workflow, the file size of each frame, etc. after you’ve added a couple of unrecognized stragglers like The Tree of Life.

We might as well include yet to be released titles as long as they have gotten that 4K or higher DI.

I have added Smurfs 2 and The Tree of Life.

The title of this thread would suggest that the movies are shot either entirely or a least primarily digitally. To include titles like the two recent Malick films (THE TREE OF LIFE and TO THE WONDER) which were almost entirely shot on film and used very little digital acquisition (in TREE OF LIFE's case, only the ethereal "dancing light" shots were filmed digitally with a Red) doesn't seem to fit IMO, although they should be on the "4K mastered" thread since both went through 4K DIs.

I agree with you, but Larmee, who runs the other list, does not. I wanted to make a complete list that housed every BD transfer that has received a 4K or higher DI, but he wouldn't have it. So, we are stuck with his list and my list. My list will just have to have every BD that came from a 4K+ DI from a title that was either completely or partially shot digitally. As Vader said, "It is the only way."

Ok so if i buy a 4K Blu. I play it on my non 4K T.V and my non 4K blu ray player. Is there a difference?? I know its not noticeable but i just want to know if technically there is a difference.

Sometimes the difference is negligible while at other times it can be significant. The re-release of Casablanca, which was done with a new 4K master, looks much better than the original release. The same can be said for the recent 4K master releases of Ghostbusters, Glory, and Spider-man.

There seems to be quite a few recent Soderbergh films up there. Have you made sure Contagion and Haywire weren't 4K masters on BD?

EDIT: Haywire's master format is 2K, so never mind on that one. Can't seem to find any info on Contagion though.

I can't find any confirmation on what resolution of Contagion's DI is. All I can find is that the source was 4.5K since it was Redcode RAW cameras that were used.

I'm trying to look for some information on it. I did see it in theaters back in its original run in 4K, and it seems to have a similar look to the other 4K Soderbergh productions, so there's a fairly high chance it has a 4K DI. I'll report back if I spot anything on it.

Not sure if anyone here got to take advantage of the complimentary After Earth screening….https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...ee#post7566362

Or, they were too busy watching the camera helicopters buzz the booths

But anyway, After Earth, to your list.

P.S. on a comprehensive technical note, majority of SFX were done in 2K, which is not that atypical, even now, with many ‘4K’ movies.

4K DSM -> 4K DCP, with these exact specs… https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...nd#post7663306

The Blu-ray incarnation of This is the End will also be derived from the 4K digital master files.

White House Down was shot in 2.8K but given a 4K finish, like Skyfall.
