That is why I mentioned source contents. Some theaters have higher than 2K projection.

Resolution of source content will increase over time and we are not to the point it is imperceptible under real life viewing conditions.

This is from last October digital trend from IFA Samsung demo

Quote:
The data suggests that 8K’s value in delivering realism over a 4K equivalent actually starts at around a 49-inch screen and tops out at an 85-inch model. So science suggests that native 8K content delivered to an 8K TV can look more realistic than anything we’ve seen before. And as I’ve experienced, it most certainly does.

But a glaring problem remains: We’re years away from being able to experience anything like that due to an absence of 8K content. 4K content has only recently arrived in earnest, so why is Samsung making an 8K TV now when the rest of the industry is so far behind?
The basis of 49” for the smallest 8k UDTV has to do with panel sizes that sell along with the LCD TV being big enough to have a full array of LED back lighting.

The 32” to 43” is still present, just ignored because vendors aren’t interested in producing reduced size premium TV’s for 4K and above.

Lol this just blew the ridiculous
sitting so far from the screen to tell a differance.

At this point an increase in resolution without an increase in frame rate is pointless, since motion blur will cancel out a lot of the gains in resolution anyways. I don't know if HFR will become commonplace for scripted content anytime soon, but it would be incredible for sports.

No it doesn't, that quote mentions nothing about viewing distance.

If people are sitting, say, 10 feet from a 49" then they're already losing a hell of a lot of 4K resolution - which itself isn't as devastatingly obvious as people may think when it comes to real world content and not specially shot demos - so 8K would be even more useless. That's not to say that the screen ITSELF can't deliver benefits in optimal conditions, I mean some people cream themselves over having a 4K phone or tablet screen and why not? You're viewing it closely enough to be able to resolve such things. When it comes to TVs though there are other factors to consider and it's not surprising that several of the people I hear complaining about how 4K looks no better than Blu-ray are watching a relative tiddler of a TV from the other side of the room. 8K will be no different.

Still like to see smaller 8k displays, while some watch movies, others play complex real time games as entertainment. We need solutions for all.
