Something for Steed (before the Carabao Cup match with Arsenal) and other VR fans to ponder,

Personally one of the first thing I noticed after seeing 'Dune' @ the theater (non-IMAX) was how unremarquable the somber (sombre) picture looked overall.

I also remember 'Arrival' ... gloomy tone, starless, dull colors.

* On January 11 I'd go for the sound impact first (4K HDR Blu).

Well we all do love our movies of course but Bob, you missed the drama of what led up to it - https://www.foxsports.com.au/motorsp...2f8706413f975f

all that ^ and yet, something I think even Peter, George and Rose from The Power of the Dog were they in real life, would find legend - https://www.foxsports.com.au/motorsp...FQArABIIACAw==

this F1 season and final race worthy of a Hollywood movie script?

I did not miss the drama Penton. I saw it before posting; the behind the microphones.

Personally I much prefer staying in the air...Maverick.
And there are much better film subjects than Abu Dhabi Formula 1 car racing, IMHO.

A real movie is happening right now before our own very eyes. ...In HDR too...High Drama Range.

Not included in the below promotional online clip, these behind the scene shots –

clip -

Seems Top Gun: Maverick has a tendency to be mentioned retrospectively at least in passing, in many conversations, e.g. https://www.fdtimes.com/pdfs/free/11...50-Dec2021.pdf

Flashing forward from this post 13 years ago -

In that regard, the StEM (movie short) was a collaborative effort between American Society of Cinematographers and DCI. More than two hours of film were captured in 35mm (and to be completely accurate, a small amount in 65 mm also) by a world-class team of ASC cinematographers. The footage featured a bunch of scenes with a variety of lighting conditions, colors, textures and other variables of photographic definition including rain, confetti, fog, smoke, etc. The footage accumulated was intentionally made to stress the system (i.e. theatrical presentation of the imagery). It was edited down to a mini-movie consisting mostly of 35mm original source and a little bit of 65mm. Eastman negative 5218 (think Van Helsing) was the primary stock and 5245 was used for the shot tilting down from the sky.

The location was Uni’s “European Village" backlot with a wedding scene (b.t.w., the groom in a tuxedo and the bride in a wedding gown is a great way to test blacks and whites) set-up similar to the one in The Godfather. The StEM material also includes some 4k CGI from Disney’s Treasure Planet.
