I didn't mean to imply in any great way. Merely a sort of oppositional discovery for our antagonists; the optimism of finding the origin of human lineage clouded by the reality of what we can become. Depending on how you look at it, humans and xenomorphs are one in the same.

Don't think I've seen all of any of the A vs P films.

Loved it! Here's my review for those who care. Not too in depth or anything, just some initial thoughts.

[Show spoiler]Prometheus - 8/10. I was so happy to finally see this. After much anticipation and high expectations I can't say I left disappointed in the least. The entire scope of the film is enormous and the environments themselves take on a life of their own. The prologue sets the entire film up and not once does the pace falter despite what some are describing as slow. Any fan of the Alien franchise will instantly note certain references such as Dr. Holloway's observation of androids becoming very similar to human beings, a theme that would carry much weight in the original Alien film. The films philosophical points are spot on that we as humans, are always seeking answers of existence not only as a whole, but also as individuals and although completely fictional, attempts to convey the disturbing possibilities such a search would provide. I will admit at times, I got feelings of Blade Runner as that film's (also directed by Ridley Scott) central theme is the search for ones creator and longevity. I personally loved the way religion played so heavily into these films. These questions cannot be explored without eventually reverting back to it. The way the film handles it takes neither side though and it works quite well. The question of whether God exists is irrelevant, as long as you choose to believe or not. Back to Prometheus though, I was also very surprised at the devolution created for certain creatures as a more large and primitive being that worked quite well up to the final scene before the credits. The technical aspects of this film cannot be praised enough and harkens back to the attention to detail provided by the first film. Performances, especially from Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, and Idris Elba, are the central highlight of the story. Each one carries a presence when they're onscreen as these three are rarely in the same frame together so it's important that they be able to relay certain believability. Finally, Scott's use of the 2.40:1 ratio is absolutely stunning. A prime example being the study of one of the "engineers" decapitated head with it being placed center with the doctors on either side attempting to perform their own examination. It's been awhile since we've had a hard sci-fi film and for it to be brought to use by one of cinema's great directors is more than enough to recommend it.

clearly this question was not for you.

standard xeno looked different in Aliens ,so an Alien queen looks different here.
and also with the facehuggers ,I'll go for alien queen.

basically it doesn't matter what it is ,main question is why its there with the green stone front of it.?

Default New confusing question:

[Show spoiler]What has been going around in my mind every since I read the theory that the xeno at the end might the first one (later contradicted by the mural) caused by mistake because Holloway infected slept with Shaw, and the other theory that the same xeno could be the first queen created by mistake also (by the same way) is that if it is the first queen, then how any other xenos could have been created if the goo simply made humans transform into deformed wild creatures with super-strength? Clearly they had made xenos before not by mistake due to the depicted one in the mural. So I guess what I am trying to say is that if this is true then the giant face hugger was a mistake also, and therefore (assuming due to the mural) they made face huggers (to make xenos) another way than by infecting females by sleeping with them. After all it does seem that it was an accident because the goo only made infected humans deformed and violent, it is not like they were looking for females to sleep with to make the face huggers. Any theories or things I might have overlooked that could explain this?

I don't think the mural conclusively proves that the xenomorph, as we've seen in the Alien films, has existed yet. That xenomorph and the facehuggers depicted
[Show spoiler]look more like the "facehugger" that Dr. Shaw gives birth to which later impregnates the Engineer creating the creature we see at the end. That creature at the end was clearly not the same xenomorph as seen in the Alien films, but does it does resemble the somewhat ambiguous mural creature. It is strongly implied at the end, especially when the second set of teeth come out, that whatever creature that was will ultimately turn into the species of xenomorphs that we see in Alien. In other words, its on the right path to "evolving" into the "perfect organism."

Same here, kinda. And you didn't muss that much with the AvP movies.
Alien - 5/5
Aliens - 4.5/5
Alien3 - 3.5/5
Alien Resurrection - 3/5
Prometheus - 4.45/5 - Would score better if a sequel, hopefully, can answers the holes.
AvP: 3/5
AvP-R: 1/5

Let me just add my theory. If they go ahead with a sequel,
[Show spoiler]lets say Shaw get caught in a magnetic storm and ends 2000 yrs in future in a desolate planet where the Alien is ruling/harvesting humans and she is finally finding out at the end of the movie, the planet she is in is indeed EARTH . oh forgot, there are free rebel humans still underground resisting the Alien rule, waiting for 'The One'. They think its Shaw, but its actually her son. Knowing this, the Aliens sends a advanced Android to kill Shaw in the past, and the humans send David to save Shaw ... goes like that .. this sounds similar

Guys, i loved the film. Can we at least be agree'd on the fact that Prometheus takes the alleged mythology created by Paul W S Anderson in AvP and outright ditches it 100%? There is something satisfying about Ridley Scott giving the finger to a crap spin-off from his original film, made by a hack director! Also seriously excited by the idea of either a directors cut or simply deleted scenes from the film seeing the light of day. sounds awesome, and no doubt Scott will do his trademark film commentary as usual. Awesome.

Good news I cracked up laughing within the first few seconds...

Interviewer: I super eff-ing happy you made another sci-fi film
Scott: (nonchalantly) Good!

I haven't seen the movie yet, but can you tell me if the film has a after-credit scene? If so is it worth hanging around for?

Visually stunning film , great art direction and cinematography. Ridley Scott near his very best . The story/underlying philosophy is not well pulled together but somehow does not negatively impact enjoying the film . Very solid ensemble cast .

Agreed, I think it is one or two developments away from being what we know and love

Hey

I"m wondering which version to see...2D or 3D? Also how was the audio on this in the theater? Reason why I ask is yesterday we went and saw the Avengers. I had to break for the bathroom which was next to one showing Prometheus. Whatever scene was showing was shaking the floors and walls. Sounded as if one was inside a massive low spinning fan. I mean I feel and hear it.

3d is very subtle and the best I have seen on a film, go 3d

Watched both versions. 2D all the way. 3D ruins the photography of the film and darkens the image IMO.
