Here's a pretty exhaustive rundown on upcoming sci-fi films:

I wonder what they have planned for 10/11/12. The DVD/Blu-ray is being released on 10/9 and 10/11 is the start of the NYCC. If I had to guess I'd say that either:

1. They'll announce the release of the extended cut of Prometheus in theaters in time for Halloween.

2. They'll announce the development/release of Paradise.

3. They'll announce the release of a plush Cuddles.

Wishful thinking on my part, of course.
More to come. There are enough modules for one a month until Oct. The speculation continues. Who's going to Comic Con San Diego to get recruited by Weyland Corp? http://screenrant.com/project-promet...n-benk-182938/

Would be nice to see the film make over 300mil worldwide, that would be satisfying. Certainly deserves it

I just saw this and I loved it! I went to a real IMAX theater too (6 story tall screen). Very impressive.

I think I'll see it again next week before its gone.

Thanks Ridley!

Apparently, yesterday Tyler Perry announced that he didn't like Prometheus...so he's writing his own sci-fi movie:

http://blogs.indiewire.com/theplayli...inues-20120627

and today, Damon Lindelof posted his reply:

“I, for one CANNOT wait to see “Tyler Perry’s Better Than Prometheus.” Then for good measure, Lindelof sent the following pic (courtesy of Planet Pulp) titled “EXCLUSIVE SET PHOTO From “Tyler Perry’s Madea Killed Space Jesus”:

Yup....and in a few different places and interviews, it's been mentioned to be the name of the sequel should it get greenlit. She's heading to "Paradise" to meet her god and makers. As they live in "paradise", a location beautiful but sinister.... If you do a search on the official Prometheus website/forums there are better explanations.

It appears that the closest IMAX theater to me is 5 hours away and the last showing of Prometheus is Monday 7/2...

So, for those who've seen Prometheus in IMAX 3D...

would the trip be worth it?

It depends if it is a real IMAX screen or not. There are 4 "LIMAX" theaters near me, but the true IMAX theater is an hour away. The real imax screen I went to is 6 stories tall and completely encompasses your field of view.

I don't notice a lot of 3D effects normally, but I hate the 3D gimmicky shots and I didn't notice any in Prometheus.

I'd say the Prometheus 3D is the best I've seen, simply adding depth to the picture but purposefully not being overbearing with dedicated shots simply to show off 3D.

I'd drive to see it simply because it's Ridley Scott sci-fi.

Watched this in the IMAX (True IMAX that is ) after waiting for a while till they started showing it and gotta say it was worth it. Fassbender did really well in his part as well as the central female character. Theron was underused disappointingly compared to how she did in Snow white.

I think there were quite a few plot holes in this movie but that could be due to a few things:

A) Me not having seen the Aliens movies

and

B) They're going to flesh them out in the sequel.

Overall though, i quite liked the movie but i do hope the above get answered either through my watching of Aliens or at least via a sequel. I think it derserves a sequel.

Now that i've got the story side of things, time to post my impression of the actual IMAX 3D. The scale of a true IMAX theatr is always epic and this was no different to say the least, but the local IMAX has the absolute worst seating, esecially for a >6ft male. I made do with a solution of tucking my legs between and alternating between that and kind of tip toeing *to think i'll have to do this 50 times for TDKR *.

I was a tad underwhelmed with the 3D to be quite honest. I would say depth was there for the most part but there was a fair bit of ghosting on the text when it appeared, but since it doesn't pop up often it wasn't that much of a problem. The space scenes like others sometimes blurred a tad too much for my liking but the strong scenes such as in space really did involve you. You felt yourself moving with the ship as it turned in space (don't think this needs a tag since it was expected lol)

There is one little spoiler tag i've reserved for the end.

[Show spoiler]I wondered if Greg Plitt had done the body for the alien we see because i never saw his name int he credits or must've missed it but most importantly i was a tad disappointed that Guy Pearce didn't have his scene that i saw of him as a young Weyland incorporated in. I thought much like Theron he was underused in that way but he still managed to muscle her out a little bit in quality of scenes for what he was in

Thanks for the heads up. I did a little more digging and found a real IMAX theater showing Prometheus a little further away; ordered tickets. Can't wait to see it.
