OK, so now the trailers have given away the film's plot.





And here it is...


[Show spoiler]The advanced humans on Earth find the SP/Engineer's coordinates thinking its an invitation. They journey out there into space but find out its a trap instead, which sends the SP's ship to Earth to wipe out humanity. So the humans then crash the Prometheus ship into it before it breaks orbit, causing it to crash land and being stuck there for all eternity. Then the Nostromo discovers it many moons from now.

The Engineers apparently seed various worlds, and then destroy them after they reach a certain technological ability. That's why the invitation is really a trap.



'A King has his reign, and then he dies'






At least that's my take on it.
