I and the rest of the 3000 people in the 3rd floor ballroom were the first to see the trailer you are now talking about around 2 PM Pacific time. About 10 trailers were shown including Prometheus, The Hobbit,Titanic, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Slayer, Spiderman and the new Resident Evil film (all in RealD 3D). In fact 80 % of the trailers were in 3D. The Prometheus trailer was the best received. Based on the response of 3000 people in a live audience, this is going to be a very big movie.
[Show spoiler]Abraham Lincoln got the 2nd best response, followed by the Hobbit and Titanic. Response to Spiderman was lukewarm at best. We got them to play the Prometheus trailer twice. For the live Q/A we had Damon Lindelof, Sir Ridley Scott, Charlize Theron and Michael Fassbender on stage. No live questions were taken from the audience. There was no mention of the movie rating. Only twitter questions were used. Very bad idea. Example: "Charlize, how does Michael Fassbender smell?" Answer: "Like musk, chilis and mint." Are you kidding me!

They handed out 3D lenticular posters (12x18) for Prometheus and Abraham Lincoln. I also got a translucent plastic Weyland Corp business card with the Weyland logo, Weyland Industries web site address and a telephone number(**Weyland)

I decided not to stick around for Mila Jovavich and the new Resident Evil Film.

This was a very well organized event, with 3 large screens and RealD 3D projectors. The 3D looked much better and brighter than I have seen in the theaters to date. -- Based on this experience, I think this is going to be a very good year for 3D Blu-rays
Very cool report, thanks. I can't Wait to see this movie!!

Not sure if I'm psyched more for This and/or The Avengers.

I was curious about RE. I guess they'll show the new clip soon.
They played the currently available 3D RE trailer while I was there, but Mila and others weren't going to be on until after 5 PM. I left around 3 PM.

The director (Timur Bekmambetov, Night Watch) , writer and leading actor for Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter were live on stage and there was some live Q/A with the audience, but nothing memorable. I forgot to mention the audio. They had a supurb sound system set up. I would buy the BD for the audio alone. Pop out 3D sequences were spectacular. Prometheus audio was incredible. That is going to be a must have 3D Blu-ray for me.

I'll just remove the link from the post since it isn't the new trailer which is 2:33 min.

I thought this wasn't an Alien Prequel ? That full trailer to me just screams alien prequel.

It's clearly a prequel and Ridley just don't wanna ruin it.

The movie will end where Alien begins.

From this (http://www.hitfix.com/blogs/motion-c...s-of-new-clues), it sounds as if Prometheus is essentially the first prequel to the already established Alien universe, that goes off into it's own direction during the course of the film.

If it's a hit, he'll do another one that expands upon on the themes in Prometheus, while still being apart of the Alien universe.

Either way, it sounds like it started as a pure Alien prequel. Scott used that to sell the idea to Fox to get them to greenlight this film on a ridiculous budget and during the course of pre-production to production, he tangentially went off in another direction...while still being in the same universe.

Confused?

Regardless of it actually being a prequel or not... I think this movie looks amazing!! Great trailer, set a great tone (very chilling with the build up)

I am officially excited! We finally have an epic sci-fi since Avatar

- the new trailer reveals a scan of the entire space jockey ship - there's no cargo hold beneath the control room with room for thousands of eggs in the Prometheus ship

Yeah, I noticed those differences too.

Which is why I am hoping that they were NOT sloppy in it's design, and that it is in fact a different ship.

That trailer that you posted a few days ago is NOT a shorter version of yesterday's, as there are some scenes from it that did not make it over onto the 2:33 one.

We still need a HD version of that one.

Yep, there are definitely differences - and I, too, hope they're not just sloppy inconsistencies. With Scott insisting that this isn't a prequel to Alien, I'm inclined to think the differences are intentional and this is not the same ship. Of course, Scott's definition of "prequel" obviously differs from mine, in that the story itself doesn't have to necessarily lead up to the events in "Alien", but merely exist in the same world and contain several elements present in the original film (such as the Company, the Space Jockey alien race, etc.). In my mind, this is totally a prequel - and exactly the type of film I've been wanting since I first saw 'Alien' a few years back.

On the image of the alien ship you posted, the domed room that the spacejockey appears in is at the top center of the ship. There is a large cargo area directly beneath it. Hard to determine if that is the possible location of the eggs seen in Alien. I have seen shots of the egg chamber from Alien that clearly show the curvature of the ship in the distance. Given that the ship itself is a living biomechanical entity, it follows that "death and decay" between the time of the crash in Prometheus and the Nostromo's arrival could have resulted in the differences you see in the ship. Some have raised the question about the crash taking place on Archeron LV-426. If you spend some time reading the recently unlocked timeline on Weyland Industries site, I don't think it could be anywhere else.

[Show spoiler]Discovery of Archeron LV-426

Weyland astronomers discover multiple moons and a ringed planet just outside the Zeta 2 Reticula System, which are possibly able to support life. Weyland expects to travel there within the century.

Check the trailer at 2:00 What is the green jellyfish like thing the spacejockey/Engineer is reaching for? It's one of the better shots of the Engineer I have seen.
