It does look good. Almost TOO good. Like I says - the expectations are very high because we have a great director, an established story-line(sort of), and a competent cast. Lots going for it.

Just hope they dont mess it up! I dont think so.

Im hoping that this film will somehow be a 3rd Alien-series film since the other existing two are throw-aways/worthless. This film could complete the REAL Alien trilogy and be watched first or whatever.

I don't think Weyland Industries missed anything. The company has shown in previous films that they will mislead, lie, kill, and basically do whatever it takes to further their cause. I'm sure they were fully aware of LV-426s secrets when they sent the colonists to terraform the planet. I can't remember any instance where Aliens directly contradicts this possibility.

Looking at it again, the guy with the burning face in this shot only has a stubble and not a beard. He also has another helmet made of cloth over his head inside the helmet.

In this shot, something is happening to this person's face but notice that he has a mohawk and that there is no cloth helmet inside the glass helmet :
[Show spoiler]

So this must be the mohawk guy getting transformed by the goo whereas the picture before where the helmet is off might be Holloway suffering some sort of effect due to the parasite inside him.
Ya know somethin...The first shot there of the jumping guy kinda actually looks like Ridley Scott himself in a freaky way, if he had a mohawk...

Scott and Lindelof have said that while they tried to maintain canon, it was sacrificed in favor of the story they needed to tell in Prometheus on occasion.
So, even parts of the original Alien movie were not sacrosanct.

The Prometheus Project is described as "highly classified" in the Weyland Industries timeline. That may explain why the Nostromo crew had no inkling of the discovery of the "invitation" that was covered in the last U.K. trailer.

It is conceivable that the Terraforming Division was not privy to the Prometheus Project because of its classified nature when they started terraforming LV-426 which was discovered in 2039 per the Weyland Industries timeline. It was established that Burke sent the message to investigate the coordinates of the derelict after the recovery of Ripley from the escape capsule in Aliens. When Newt's family went out to investigate, the vehicle is shown traversing a very active geothermal area. Glowing magma can be seen on the surface. It is plausible that the pyramid/monolith seen in the trailer had been destroyed by that geothermal activity sometime in the distant past.

It is interesting that in the Weyland Industries timeline LV-426 is referred to as Archeron. The name of the planetoid is never mentioned in Alien, but it originated in Aliens (Cameron came up with it) and was spelled Acheron. Revisionism or just a typo in the Weyland Industries timeline?

Well, what do you know! They must be reading this thread over there. The spelling has now been corrected in the Weyland Industries timeline.
It is now spelled Acheron rather than the previous Archeron.

I haven't seen a single thing that implies Ridley Scott is dismissing Aliens or Alien 3 for that matter, though the latter of which would be irrelevant to him. Going by your logic, Aliens already messed up its own continuity. It was Weyland Yutani that sent the Nostromo to LV-426 to investigate the planet in the first film. Shouldn't the company have known about the alien and the derelict before even building a colony there? I know the official reason is that the company panicked and erased all records of the events that happened in Alien. But how do you account for the colonists in Aliens living there for as long as they did and not encountering the derelict spacecraft? The reason for this is that LV-426 is a huge planet. With all the billions of people living on Earth, there are still parts of our own planet we have yet to discover. It's not that big of a stretch that a few hundred colonists haven't explored the hostile terrain extensively and thus hadn't discovered the derelict (until Ripley points them in the right direction) or the pyramid as is being introduced in this film.

If anything, Prometheus aids in the continuity of the films. I always wondered how the company was aware of LV-426 and the alien in the first place that they would send the Nostromo crew to investigate, with a company spy no less. The fact that they sent Ash means they had a hunch of what they might find. This tells me the company had an encounter with the species before, or at the very least, was aware of its existence.

Interesting article:

When Ridley Scott announced he would be interested in revisiting his groundbreaking sci-fi horror film Alien several years ago, fans collectively held their breath in anticipation. As details about the production began to emerge, it was learned that the new film, Prometheus, would ultimately not be a direct prequel to the Alien franchise. Asked about that decision, Lindelof said, “There’s an inevitability to watching a prequel, where you’re like, ‘Okay, if the ending of this movie is just going to be the room that John Hurt walks into that’s full of eggs — there’s nothing interesting in that,’ because we know where it’s going to end.”

“Real good stories, you don’t know where they’re going to end,” he continued, “so this movie, hopefully, will contextualize the original Alien so that when you watch it again, maybe you know a little bit more, but you don’t **** around with that movie. It has to stand on its own.”

During their Saturday panel, the filmmakers briefly discussed the possibility of a sequel to Prometheus. When they were asked if that film would veer further into Alien territory or explore new ground, Lindelof replied, “If we’re fortunate enough to be able to do a sequel to Prometheus, it will actually, I think, tangentialize even further away from the original Alien.”

That being said, the filmmakers demonstrated they understand what fans are clamoring to see. “When you go to the concert that is this movie, you want the Stones to play ’Satisfaction,’” Lindelof said. “So there is this sense of us [the audience] saying, ‘We want you to do something new, Ridley, but just give us a little bit of ‘Space Jockey.’ C’mon, just play it — even in the encore!’”

Well said.

Actually, it was Weylan-Yutani... Cameron added the 'd' to Weylan in Aliens for some reason, so that kills continuity right there.

yeah a one letter spelling difference, CONTINUITY DESTROYED.
oh wait no one (including Ridley Scott) cares. Scott acknowledges the sequel as canon and adopted Camerons spelling so what difference does it make?

Yes. That is correct. I don't think that shot is in the trailer, is it?

I don't think Prometheus Project log in is accepting it any longer.

The other login for Prometheus Project is still active, the last time I checked http://www.projectprometheus.com/245409/ Check unforum Prometheus thread. The password is there. Methodology used to find the passwords is intriguing.
