It does look good. Almost TOO good. Like I says - the expectations are very high because we have a great director, an established story-line(sort of), and a competent cast. Lots going for it.
Just hope they dont mess it up! I dont think so. Im hoping that this film will somehow be a 3rd Alien-series film since the other existing two are throw-aways/worthless. This film could complete the REAL Alien trilogy and be watched first or whatever. ![]() |

So, even parts of the original Alien movie were not sacrosanct. The Prometheus Project is described as "highly classified" in the Weyland Industries timeline. That may explain why the Nostromo crew had no inkling of the discovery of the "invitation" that was covered in the last U.K. trailer. It is conceivable that the Terraforming Division was not privy to the Prometheus Project because of its classified nature when they started terraforming LV-426 which was discovered in 2039 per the Weyland Industries timeline. It was established that Burke sent the message to investigate the coordinates of the derelict after the recovery of Ripley from the escape capsule in Aliens. When Newt's family went out to investigate, the vehicle is shown traversing a very active geothermal area. Glowing magma can be seen on the surface. It is plausible that the pyramid/monolith seen in the trailer had been destroyed by that geothermal activity sometime in the distant past. It is interesting that in the Weyland Industries timeline LV-426 is referred to as Archeron. The name of the planetoid is never mentioned in Alien, but it originated in Aliens (Cameron came up with it) and was spelled Acheron. Revisionism or just a typo in the Weyland Industries timeline? Well, what do you know! They must be reading this thread over there. The spelling has now been corrected in the Weyland Industries timeline. It is now spelled Acheron rather than the previous Archeron. Last edited by raygendreau; 03-27-2012 at 10:57 PM. |

If anything, Prometheus aids in the continuity of the films. I always wondered how the company was aware of LV-426 and the alien in the first place that they would send the Nostromo crew to investigate, with a company spy no less. The fact that they sent Ash means they had a hunch of what they might find. This tells me the company had an encounter with the species before, or at the very least, was aware of its existence. Interesting article:
When Ridley Scott announced he would be interested in revisiting his groundbreaking sci-fi horror film Alien several years ago, fans collectively held their breath in anticipation. As details about the production began to emerge, it was learned that the new film, Prometheus, would ultimately not be a direct prequel to the Alien franchise. Asked about that decision, Lindelof said, “There’s an inevitability to watching a prequel, where you’re like, ‘Okay, if the ending of this movie is just going to be the room that John Hurt walks into that’s full of eggs — there’s nothing interesting in that,’ because we know where it’s going to end.” “Real good stories, you don’t know where they’re going to end,” he continued, “so this movie, hopefully, will contextualize the original Alien so that when you watch it again, maybe you know a little bit more, but you don’t **** around with that movie. It has to stand on its own.” During their Saturday panel, the filmmakers briefly discussed the possibility of a sequel to Prometheus. When they were asked if that film would veer further into Alien territory or explore new ground, Lindelof replied, “If we’re fortunate enough to be able to do a sequel to Prometheus, it will actually, I think, tangentialize even further away from the original Alien.” That being said, the filmmakers demonstrated they understand what fans are clamoring to see. “When you go to the concert that is this movie, you want the Stones to play ’Satisfaction,’” Lindelof said. “So there is this sense of us [the audience] saying, ‘We want you to do something new, Ridley, but just give us a little bit of ‘Space Jockey.’ C’mon, just play it — even in the encore!’” http://spinoff.comicbookresources.co...ss-prometheus/ Well said. ![]() |

Yes. That is correct. I don't think that shot is in the trailer, is it?
I don't think Prometheus Project log in is accepting it any longer. The other login for Prometheus Project is still active, the last time I checked http://www.projectprometheus.com/245409/ Check unforum Prometheus thread. The password is there. Methodology used to find the passwords is intriguing. Last edited by raygendreau; 03-22-2012 at 01:40 AM. Reason: added 2nd PP log-in |
