Well nothing about it made me change my mind on 3-d. Visually it was impressive though. I should have seen it normally b/c it was so dark. Ridley Scott does not do everything cgi, so much was either on location or actual sets, which is so much better.

The best part about it was Noomi Rapce. She just overshadowed everybody she had scenes with. Some ridiculous lines in it though. I would not count on this winning best screenplay at the Oscars.

I did like the ending, but the last shot was so stupid. Like something in credits scene from a marvel movie

is most of the bad reviews related to how it's not a direct connection to Alien and how mixed up the story is giving more questions than answers?

I'm seeing it tomorrow but this is most of the negative stuff i saw online

I felt the movie should have explored more into explaining things. But overall I really enjoyed it. Highly stylized with great effects. Acting was definitely superb.

I actually thought Fassbender was the real stand out.

I went into this movie with high expectations and tons of excitement and absolutely loved the movie. I thought it was very well done. It was intense throughout almost the entire movie. Fassbender and Noomi Rapace were excellent in their roles as well. 9/10 for me but I love sci-fi and went in very excited so that might sway my opinion
[Show spoiler]1. Weiland told David to "try harder" in finding out info about the goo and engineers. Plus he did ask the scientist how far he'd be willing to go to find out answers, so David simply obliged and followed orders.
2. I think if anything they just wanted to put her in stasis in case the alien in her had a disease that could contaminate the whole crew. I don't know why they didn't chase her lol.

He was good, just Rapace drove the whole movie, and in many ways saved it imo. Almost all the characters other than David and Shaw were completely one-dimesional. I wish so much of it had just been them two.

Has anyone commented on how the Space Jockey has shrunk? Wasn't he HUGE in Alien, much much larger than a human?

What happen to the threads while I was gone?

This thread had like 240 pages give or take a few and now it's smaller?

I saw the movie tonight nd loved 90% of it. There were a few things like others have stated that bothered me. But over all I really enjoyed it

I thought the ending was grey and gave me hat alien feeling from years ago, so much that I am watching alien tomorrow

Go see it if you are on the fence

Saw it earlier, I thought it was absolutely fantastic. Yes, it took its time and left more questions than answers, but I love it when you are left to draw your own conclusions.

[Show spoiler]For example: my friends and I thought that the beginning took place on Earth and the engineer who swallowed the goo was the beginning of the human race (since he fell into water and according to some we came from water). He was also a rogue, and that would explain why they wanted to destroy Earth at the end because we weren't supposed to be created. I could be totally wrong about this, but as I said: I love it when things are left to interpretation.

The look of everything was beautiful, the Blu should have superb PQ and AQ (I say that because the soundtrack is great too).

Everyone put in a great performance especially Michael Fassbender.

[Show spoiler]The extraction/abortion scene was probably the most intense scene I've witnessed in a long time.

The very ending with the Xenomorph was really cool.

Overall, I'd give it an 8/10. The only thing holding this movie back are a couple of character actions and plotholes. This movie isn't for everyone though; it takes its time, it's violent, and doesn't really give too many answers, but it is still fun. A smart sci-fi blockbuster (very rare to come by these days.).

Just got home. I thoroughly enjoyed it. It will become part of my blu-ray collection. I do not get the hate for this movie that some people are expressing. It was EXACTLY what I hoped it would be from the moment it was announced: An original story that is connected to ALIEN without retreading what has come before.

Folks, if you go into this film just wanting to see an entertaining movie, you will do just fine. If you want to see ALIEN again, you will probably hate this.

The only criticisms I can agree with are:
[Show spoiler]1. It isn't scary (which did not bother me at all).
2. A couple moments of dialogue did indeed need some refinement (but they are not ear-destroying movie-wreckers like the Star Wars ones were--not by a long shot!).

The criticisms I disagree with:

[Show spoiler]1. Character development is not as sparse as people will have you believe. The three most important characters are fleshed out well enough, and all the fodder gets close to nothing as a result, which IMHO is exactly how you should develop characters. You don't paint details into every single aspect of your paining--you do it on the focal points and paint everything else with broader strokes.
2. The script is NOT a mess. The side-stepping with the little worm creatures seemed unnecessary (almost as though Scott and his writers knew they needed to put some creepy crawlies in before the audience started to wonder where all the monsters were).

My daughter and I enjoyed it. I will go see it again.

[Show spoiler]They looked tall to me. Plus it's revealed that the jockey in Alien was wearing armor (that is not what they look like) which may have contributed to the overall mass.

Does anyone else think this movie will become more appreciated over time, like some of Ridley Scott's other work?

I liked it, gave me everything I was expecting. Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender definitely were the stars of the movie. I thought the 3D was good, this movie is going to look amazing on the blu-ray when it comes out.

I thought that Idris Elba was also solid and his character of Captain Janek deserved a little more.

It will be intresting to see if he does a directors cut and how much he changes. Blade Runner and Kingdom of Heaven were so different after he did that.

The more I think of Michael Fassbender in this movie, the more freaked out I am. An stellar performance - amazingly charismatic and full of curiosity, but lacking a soul and conscience.

We are living in an era where everyone's opinion can be heard. With that said, If the Internet in its current form was around back in 79, we would probably be reading negative comments about it as well.

It's just human nature, and film critics who do this for a living and have studied the craft are now being overshadowed by bedroom critics. Reading some of the blogs about this film on various sites are pretty immature, amateur and pathetic to say the least.

I enjoyed this movie. I approached Prometheus from a standpoint of not comparing it to Alien. By doing that I have been completely in awe of the film and what it had to offer.
