Now it's up to the sequel to answer the rest and we are set.

Loved this movie from beginning to end.

Quick Alien 3 question since it's been forever. Was the Weyland in that one also an Android or the actual Weyland?.
actualy Weyland. he made a point of telling her he wasn't an android.

Default 4/5 I enjoyed it

I can't wait to see this again. Alot of people have problems with "plot holes" in this movie but not me. I guess I have a big imagination and can fills those holes myself of what the movie already gives you. My only problem with the movie was the audio. Don't get me wrong, the audio was good but not great. I was hoping for a deeper rumble/bass from the ships thrusters. I thought is was kinda weak. I did see this in IMAX by the way.

Saw it and liked it very much. The 3D may not have been anything to write home about but still thought the effects were great. What a shame we're going to have to wait another 2 years (?) for part 2.

Perhaps the franchise can split itself into separate continuities ala HalloweeN.

#1) Alien 1-4
#2) Prometheus/Alien/Aliens
#3) AVP/AVPR/Alien/Aliens/Alien 3/Resurrection

I'll be honest. I wouldn't lose sleep it Alien Resurrection was "written out".

Or perhaps they could even go the route of Alien 3 Weyland being Peter the 5th, lol.

You obviously didn't understand my message. Too many people are complaining that there are plot holes with Prometheus because they were expecting the film to smoothly link up to ALien, and it didn't.

This movie completely links up to Alien. The only way it could have linked up more is if there would have been a baby Ripley popping up in one of the scenes. I would have enjoyed the movie much more if it resembled the Alien franchise less. Most of the Space Jockey stuff worked for me (David was the only part of the movie I felt was perfectly brought to life), but
[Show spoiler]the giant facehugger, Shaw's stomach-bursting alien pregnancy, and the alien in the final shot
fell flat for me.

GTFO. That was as intense, if not more so than the chestburster in the original film. I haven't squirmed during a movie in years, but that scene got to me. I can't imagine how women feel watching that scene.

[Show spoiler]I think the ones who are complaining wanted to see the deselect ship crash land on LV-426, they wanted to see a Queen burst out of The Space Jockey while sitting in the pilot's chair, and begin the process of laying eggs under the cockpit.Promethues does not provide this sequence of events. It simply provided us with the notion that there was more to come. David revealing that there were more ships in LV-223 was enough of a hint that there will be a sequel, which may or may not link Alien to this part of the story, and of course fill in the gaps.

my favorite comment

" sat there trying to work out what was going on, thinking that maybe life on Earth was created so there would be a whole planet of incubators for the engineers to quickly increase their numbers...

Then I saw Lindelhoff was involved, one of the guys who "wrote" Lost. Most likely the planet is a time machine or a polar bear's dream or something. Who cares. May as well try and predict what colour my next urination is."

3/5

Saw a late showing last night. I liked it ok, but was pretty let down overall. It lacked the horror of Alien or the action of Aliens, and the plot just wasn't interesting enough for me for it to excel as a Sci Fi drama. The pacing was weird at times as well, so maybe an eventual directors cut will make things better.

I'll agree it's a tense scene, and extreme in its execution, but it completely recalls the Hurt scene from Alien. Except there was a
[Show spoiler]magical surgery machine nearby that could save Shaw before the Alien squid burst out of her stomach
. I appreciate the body horror element if the scene in Prometheus, but for a movie that is allegedly attempting to distance itself from Alien, it just feels too similar for me.

Yup - sliced, diced and utterly mangled. And deservedly so. Why this utter shit-fest was filmed beggars belief.

no kidding, and I'm actually surprised. I may not like all of Ridley's films, but they are usually at least DECENT. Even Robin Hood was fairly boring with some stupidly unrealistic elements, but it was still decently made.... this one. I was utterly shocked at how poorly it was done. the script was awful (though Lindholf may have had a big hand in that) and the editing was maniacally stupid. (even Charlize Theron overacted badly)

So now people are complaining that it's too much like ALIEN.

Gotta luv the internet.

PROMETHEUS barely edged out MADAGASCAR 3 on Friday--$21.5M to $20.5M. No doubt the weekend will belong to the toons.

Default Reaction to an almost epic movie

Went to the opening night show Friday morning.

The Movie held up to my expectation. I loved every single thing. In my eyes it's right up there with the Alien franchise, Sunshine, District 9 and so on...
Hands down: it was awesome

[Show spoiler]The story: It sets off a whole new universe. The engineers are the stars playing god on a bio-mechanical play ground. We, the humans stumble in to there laboratory on our way to find answers to our origin.

There are so many things open for discussion and questions to all the things untold. But good art asks questions and is not trying to answer them.

Just think about ALIEN, the first time you saw it, how many questions did you have after it?

Visual: Eye candy! And it was well placed.

I could write on and on, but I have to see it again.

Go and see it for your self.

Lol if Chewbacca, R2D2, and C3PO were created in this day and age, Star Wars would rank alongside Battlefield Earth.

Oh bite me. It's a valid complaint after being told for months it's not an Alien prequel, and not then it turns out there's
[Show spoiler]a xeno alien, face-hunger, and multiple shared plot devices
.

I thought there were some interesting ideas thrown out there during the run time, but I would have liked the movie more if it would have strictly been its own thing (which as we were told repeatedly, took place in the Alien universe).

Gotta luv the the internet. Yep, because how dare I have an opinion. For shame! I should just say Prometheus rocked! Da CGI was awesome!

Critical thinking isn't a bad thing sometimes.
