It's rated PG-13 with no cuts here in Malaysia. How come it's rated R in other country?

I caught the midnight showing of Prometheus on Thursday; loved it...easily surpassed my expectations. Also got a free t-shirt and a poster. Got up Friday morning, went to see the 9:00 AM showing...enjoyed it even more the second time. Will be taking the wife to see it tomorrow in 2D. This is one of the few films in the franchise that just demands repeat viewings, IMO.

I love all the mixed feedback this film is getting...it helped me to temper my own expectations after the 2 year hype train. While watching the film, I honestly couldn't remember what all the fuss was about; was too busy being entertained. My favorite scenes by far are the Prometheus landing sequence and the Juggernaut take-off sequence; freaking jaw-dropping (the ratting theater seat helped as well).

Overall, I'd have to rank the franchise accordingly:

1. Alien
2. Prometheus
3. Aliens
4. Alien 3
5. AVP
6. Alien Resurrection
7. AVP2:R

I really hope Ridley follows this up with a sequel.

Malaysia is screwed up. There are three scenes that make it an automatic R rating for me. I would be more than willing to divulge information but I wouldn't want to spoil the film for anyone.

It's only a 14A in Canada. Ended going with a group 8, which included a 13 yr old.

Madagascar was in almost 1,000 more theaters. It should be a solid weekend for Prometheus.

It seems like there's a large amount of people participating in this thread that are having a difficult time processing any views that aren't identical to their own.

If someone comes in here and trashes the movie without backing it up at all, that's not productive to the discussion. It is also not productive to just post a movie rocks and attack people with generalized statements stating someone should just enjoy the movie for what is.
