Prometheus - 9/10
Provided a visually amazing ride. Nowhere near a masterpiece, but well made none the less. Yes, there may be a few holes here and there if one thinks about it and a couple of characters did perform actions that left me figuratively scratching my head, but I was too wowed by just how magnificent the film looked to really pay those admittedly tiny debits any real mind. Seeing as my expectations for this were nowhere near as astronomical as some others I came out of it with nary any disappointment. My views on the idea behind the story notwithstanding, it is indeed cool to see a more thoughtful sci-fi blockbuster out there. If there is indeed to be a sequel/s, I'm game to see where it can go. Edit - This is the first film I've seen in 3D since Transformers: DOTM (which I loathed btw), and as it stands, Prometheus is one of the better uses of 3D to come along in a good long while. My hopes have just increased for Spider-Man as well, as the trailer for it showed some pretty awesome use of the format. Last edited by Caesar Will Rise; 06-09-2012 at 09:44 PM. |

Okay, how do two crew members get lost when they are being watched on video screens and have tracking devices. Why would it be asked where they are when the screens are right there?
Near the end of the movie the wind is blowing Shaw has her helmet on and her hair is blowing. How does they get missed in post production? The movie had a few good scenes, yet was a mess for the most part. I vote 2 stars. |

I tend to give very subjective scores. It worked well enough in its intended genre to be given that, but there are still a few things holding it down from being a masterpiece. Maybe I should do a breakdown. I gave Battleship a 10/10 a few weeks ago and stated in that review that the film was not what anyone would consider a grand masterpiece, but it was a 10/10 in its own way for me. I settled on a score that conveyed my overall enjoyment of the film, but I still maintain that it is no masterpiece. Visually the movie is about as masterful as you can get. Performances are strong enough from the leads, but the peripheral characters are just that, peripheral and barely seen so we get no real connection to them. Overall though, despite its drawbacks, it was a 9/10 fun ride for me. And did I mention the stunning visuals?

They were able to talk to and see them fine when the plot called for it. You would also think with them left behind someone would have been on post, making sure nothing or no one attacked them. Also I think it was the Captain who asked where they were at.

No. All kinds of possibilities since there are other Alien ships and possibly more Engineers in stasis. It has already been established that the luxury escape pod can sustain human life for up to 50 years.
