Charlize Theron's character is a absolute disaster, even when she died it served no purpose. I expected her to be alive after she escapes from the Prometheus ship. I feel if Noomi and Charlize went off with Fassbender that would have been brilliant.

Overall a great movie, could have been much more if there were better characters.
P.S. : I am yet to watch any of the Alien movies, so i had no big expectations.

Hogwash! Alien became a masterpiece all on it's own. I think in 10 years we will look back and see the greatness for what it is.

Are you serious? Alien was a masterpiece because it was so different and innovative in horror techniques and a great script.

Prometheus is a film that was supposed to elaborate on the universe but instead just became a movie of questions. Instead of being more informed, I'm just more lost and I blame Damon. I heard he pissed Lost fans off and then pulled the same crap here. A

[Show spoiler]nd seriously what the hell is the sequel going to do? Shaw's going to fight the space jockeys? One space jockey beat the shit out of like 5 humans and killed them. And then the Jockey/mohawk dude hybrid also took out like 5 guys before being burned. Imagine a whole planet of them? It's stupid. And one minor qualm, if Shaw sent out a message to not come here, why the hell did that ship before Ripley's ship come and send out that distress signal and wouldn't the ship in any of the sequel Aliens get it at least?

I thought the film was interesting but it just made no profound effect on me, it was a bit predictable and really didn't bring anything new to the table and just left me wanting more, like the film finally started in the last half hour.

[Show spoiler]Also Charlize Theron's character shouldn't have died an awful death like that, she wasn't at all evil. She was tough hearted and willing to make the tough call and even when she kills Holloway he agrees with the death. Instead in the end she comes off like a bad guy who deserved the death. It made the character absolutely pointless.

The plot was incredibly simple, but due to the lousy writing and choppy editing it could be argued that it came across as complicated to those who couldn't follow it.

Totally agree.

Characters doing dumb stuff, pretty much zero characterisation, poor script... However Fassbender was amazing and the visuals (as with most of Ridley's films) were superb.

This sums up my opinion pretty accurately. Way too many holes in the script, too many useless characters and useless scenes. And I had to see it in 3D because I went to the IMAX showing, and the 3D had nothing special.

No he didn't - the '17 minutes cut' was from an interview a few months ago, and that was referring to another of his films.

However, in a recent interview with Theron and Fassbender, they mentioned that they thought 27 minutes had been cut.

There were a lot of mistakes with the editing also.

[Show spoiler]Anyone who is planning to see the movie again, watch the scene when the mohawk character comes back to the ship. The merc is possibly killed then is with Weyland later in the movie.

I'm surprised that Scott didn't use Russell Crowe as Weyland. Seems to be in most of his movies now anyway.

- Okay. Shaw gets impregnated with the alien and David puts her out to get her ready for cryosleep. He leaves and two other doctors take over. She wakes up, knocks both of them out with a blunt object, runs to the surgical pod and has the alien removed...stumbles down the hallway a bloody mess and finds a group of people (including Weyland) and after all this happens no-one thinks to mention "hey uuuhhh...Shaw? Say, what happened to that ALIEN that was inside of you?" and the two people she knocked out didnt seem concerned with WHY they got knocked out to begin with had the possiblity of them not knowing about the alien been a factor.

[Show spoiler] I saw it as Weyland was top priority and now that he was up and mobile their orders/priorities changed and Shaw was the least of their worries.

Why isn't anyone upset that Kane stuck his head inside an egg, but we're all butt hurt about Milburn wanting to play with the "Cobra"? Did we know that something was going t jump out and attack Kane, no. Did know the Cobra was going to attack Milburn, be honest, no!!
