Hopefully the Alien Prequel will not have anything like that. I am not sure a chest burster could be in anything less than R.

Natalie Portman is one of my favorite actresses. It would be awesome to see her in a badass role.
And there in lies my problem...how can a chest burster be less than R? How can acid burning people and disfiguring the body be less than R? How can Aliens killing a group of people, in a horror like fashion, be less than R? I think Fox is grasping at straws thinking this franchise can be neutered down to PG-13 to be honest. I just don't see it working properly

Natalie Portman is one of my favorite actresses as well, and I agree it will be great to see her being in a kickass role Now all she has to do is make a sequel to The Professional and I'll be very happy

Very good points! Although this is not as strong an argument, most of Ridley Scott's films are rated R.

A sequel to The Professional would be pretty awesome in my book.

I could go for Portman in an R rated version for sure.
She has a little more depth than most other actresses (many of whom are nothing more than eye candy).

I know if this isn't R rated I won't see it in theaters and probably won't buy it on blu-ray either. For this movie to be a success it probably needs a budget near 300 million and an R rating other wise it'll end up turning into something like Doom or Pandorum.

Great points! It's like the words were taken from my mouth. If this movie receives anything other than an R...I will vomit on myself in disgust.

Why shouldn't it be a R rated movie? I've seen kids go into R movie and nobody say anything. You got video game that can super violent and you have 9 year old playing them and most kids have a super foul mouth nowadays anyway. I could understand if this was 1965 but 2010 people are just more hardcore. $250 million for two movies sounds like a pretty good deal considering 125 a piece, one movie with a good global intake should make that up with no problem.

Exactly! This type of movie NEEDS to be R. If they have the chest bursters OFF screen I will be pissed. I can understand a kill or two off screen but now a days we should be able to see it! Even swearing makes the movie more authentic... I know if I was being hunted and killed by Aliens I would drop the F bomb more than once.

Most of Scott's are R, that's another good point. And when they cut things out to make them PG-13, the movie falters. Look at Robin Hood. Director's cut was so much better then the theatrical. I don't want a terribly dumbed down, neutered Alien movie

I would too! Fox honestly doesn't get it. They just want to make easy money off the PG-13 rating, no matter the consequence of how the film turns out. That's why I never how I understood how Live Free or Die Hard got rid of the F bombs...If I was killing terrorists I'd be swearing too

Oh how I loathe you PG-13. Damn you Speilberg ... damn you!

I am really afraid for this film in theaters now, and if it does get tagged with a PG-13 rating I ain't seeing it there. I'll wait till the Ridley Scott Unrated Blu-ray comes out and watch that in all its glory at home. Just like Robin Hood.

Natalie Portman? NATALIE PORTMAN? Are you freakin kidding me? Ya she was just amazing in the 3 Star Wars POS prequels.

PG13 as well? Guess I won't be seeing this.

Hey thanks Fox for continuing to ruin one of the greatest movies of all time. Kudos. A tip of my hat to you and your latte sipping, bimmer driving, execs.

If the prequel does go through, then I won't be buying the Anthology set.

If Cameron would get involved somehow, then I doubt FOX would hesitate about the rating.

Everybody's acting sucked in the prequels. People like to rag on Hayden Christensen primarily when it comes to the acting but everyone was terrible. Even Liam Neeson who's never looked bad in anything, looks lost in a lot of the scenes as if Lucas had chosen to give him no direction at all. Everyone, from Portman to Knightley to even Neeson gave their worst performances in the prequel trilogy.

And if anything is to be learned from Kingdom of Heaven its that if anyone can get a great performance out an actor (even one without any real versatility like Orlando Bloom) its Ridley Scott. Even if Portman was a bad actress you're gonna see a better than normal performance from her with Scott directing.

Yeah. It's called bad direction, abyssal scripts, and dialogue that makes you want to choke on your own vomit--all out of her control.

She's done quite well in other roles.

OK, let's not turn this into another Lucas-Prequel Trilogy bashing thread, everyone has their views on them - some love them, some hate them, there's nothing else to say.

Anyway back to Alien, personally I'd really like for Portman to do the Alien prequles because it'd be great to see her in a hard, gritty film, if Fox will allow it.

I don't want ANY name actors in it. That's why the first Alien worked, why Star Wars worked etc. The actor's celebrity didn't detract from the movie itself. That's partially why I HATED Resurrection so much. Ron Perlman? Winona Rider? Really?

I wonder if this means we'll be seeing Natalie stripping down to her BVDs in the last 20 minutes of the film.

...just sayin'.

Well, if they are going to be doing that again, how about Megan Fox???? Hubba...hubba.

But seriously, I would rather have an unfamiliar actress like one of the first two that were originally rumored.
