Interesting, because the theater I was in, had nothing but groaning and a couple of laughs.

I felt like it was just stuffed in, at the last minute.

I heard that Ridley Scott claimed an entire language was created for the film, which (if true) would mean the scene could be translated.
He asked him "what did you think of Alien VS. Predator?...that old guy beside me directed it."

My theater had a bunch of "cool" and "yeah"s coming from about 70–80% of the audience.

I enjoyed it a lot but it really did feel like a
[Show spoiler]here's your last shot of the movie and it's a definite tie-in to the Alien universe!
type of thing. Almost like they wanted to make sure people got that.

I believe they also shot LOTR all at once. Man, that must have been really taxing, but you wouldn't want to rebuild all those sets of the shire......

This movie will have a sequel. It's gonna make way too much money not to have one. Too bad that's the way it is, but, hey, whattaya gonna do?

The group in my theater was quiet as a mouse during the entire movie and not much was said as people were leaving either. Then again...it was 2:30am and everyone had a "Damn!...i gotta work tomorrow" look on their face.

Now that I've checked out the xenomorph on youtube, and as someone else recently pointed out, there is no doubt in my mind that the xenomorph was a Queen.

Well, I think I was in a very jovial crowd.

They applauded the Batman trailer, and there was some whooping and a "hell yeah!" And even some mild applause after the Spiderman trailer. (Saw it in IMAX - but I was VERY annoyed that they didn't show the Spiderman trailer in 3D. )

So, obviously a very enthusiastic crowd that was there to have a good time.

I thought the last shot was cringeworthy, but I was in the minority of the people in the theater.

I agree, should have been implied - and, if they REALLY had to - put it at the end after the credits.

Still, it didn't ruin my experience of the film (or make it better) - it felt like an after credits piece that was shown early. Oh well.

I did not make the cocky and arrogant angle statement. As for your other question, I prefer movies that have endings. The nature of the film to dictate a sequel. Way to many film makers are thinking sequel while creating the first movie. Think sequel after the movie has been released and the audience asks for it. Thinking sequel always hurts the movie you are working on. Movies like Star Wars and The Matrix had endings, yet had elements to build upon for sequels.

Here is my theory on it.

We know that the physical manifestation on the chest bursting being is related to the host.

We have seen that from humans, they incubate and produce the standard Alien xenomorph.

But, the question is -
[Show spoiler]where does the queen come from?

My theory is - that when a face hugger bonds with a human - you get your standard Alien - but, when it bonds with an
[Show spoiler] Engineer - who is a more perfect being than humans, you get a Queen.

I could be totally off - but that's kind of how I was reading the event and its' outcome.

I know you didn't. I quoted the person, Foggy, who made it.. Which was pretty much my whole point, why is it cocky and arrogant? I guess I'll just disagree and leave it.

Understandable points. I don't always agree but yes at times it can be annoying.

If you're talking about Episode 4 only. Yes, it had an ending. Every other one presupposed a sequel (of course, they made a couple of bucks by then.......oh.....episode 6 was the ending....). I don't think planning for a sequel in and of itself hurts the movie. It's like anything else, if it's done right, it works. If it isn't, then it kind of sucks. While each HP movie generally had a storyline, we knew there would be sequels and open ended questions were left after each movie.

I think there was quite a bit invested in HP to get all the books turned into movies. Yet the same formula was used with Chronicles of Narnia and they were lucky to get to a 3rd movie.

Agreed....they're getting a 4th though....or so I've heard. I'm guessing they'll never get to the last book (which is really the end.....and not that great of one at that).

I guess my point was that you can make a good movie and leave a lot of questions unanswered (screams "sea quill"). If a movie gets made and people don't like it, then the sequel will never get made and no one really cares because the movie sucked anyway......

Nothing after Aliens counts. . .

Does the movie have any reason for why she has a Queen? I think there was no real reason for it - it just sounded good.

The bigger question is - does Ripley consider anything after his movie to be part of the bigger story. And especially after Aliens.
