Anyway back to Alien, personally I'd really like for Portman to do the Alien prequles because it'd be great to see her in a hard, gritty film, if Fox will allow it.
Same here. I like seeing her in different roles because I think she is one of the few actresses with real diversity in her acting abilities.

She will but then just prior to the movie being released she'll call Ridley crying and beg him to take those scenes out...

Has that happened before? She was nude in that Wes Anderson short. She also has an alleged make out scene with Mila Kunis in Black Swan.

I understand the sentiment some have for wanting unknown actors in this film; I tend to lean that way on certain productions as well. I just like Natalie Portman a lot.

Yes. She had full frontal scenes in Closer and then not long before the release called the director crying and begging him to remove those scenes.

That is interesting since she ended up doing nudity for the Wes Anderson short Hotel Chavelier only 3 years later.

Probably because in Closer it was full frontal.....Hotel Chevalier was also hardly seen by anyone and the nudity consisted of only seeing her rear end.

You could be right. If she is willing to show her rear, maybe she would be willing to be filmed in the previously mention under garments.

In any case, I just realized that if these movies get made, they'll be sitting outside my anthology set

From the Above Interview with S. Weaver:

Q: Are you a fan of Blu-ray?

Weaver: I don't have a machine, but I have seen "Avatar" on Blu-ray and it was so beautiful. I'm glad that we have the ability to take something where Derek Vanlint, the cinematographer, worked so hard to make every shot like a little masterpiece, like a little Vermeer painting. I'm glad that we have the technology to make that as high fidelity as we can, because for the people who love these movies, it's going to be a work of art. So I think that's cool that we now can create something that's good for all the fidelity you can imagine even for the next 100 years.

[Show spoiler]Wth - Get with it Ripley! Buy a damn Bluray player already.

Also, her talking about James Cameron & the Sequel to "AVATAR":

Q: Has he shared with you any ideas for how Grace might be in an "Avatar" sequel?
Weaver: He has a little bit, but I'm not at liberty to tell anything. He just said, "You know, in science fiction, death is not really death."

Q: Well, thats good news.
Weaver: Yeah, so we'll see.

Anne Hathawy and James Franco in Talks For Ridley Scott's Alien Prequel!

Whether they’re just fans of the franchise or want to work with director Ridley Scott, it seems like much of young Hollywood is circling the currently the Untitled Alien Prequel that’s in pre-production. Last week, word broke that 20th Century Fox loved Damon Lindelof’s rewrite of the script and that Natalie Portman was on top of a short list to star as the lead. There are now reports that Anne Hathaway and James Franco are also interested in being a part of the film. I urge you to…

Bloody Disgusting exclusively broke the news that the stars of Pineapple Express and The Devil Wears Prada “could be suiting up for the prequel.” It makes sense, both because of their acting skills and because both actors graduated to big budget event films after getting their starts in relatively small budget productions. Hathaway recently starred as Agent 99 in 2008′s Get Smart and as the White Queen in Tim Burton’s 2010 Alice in Wonderland. She’ll next be seen in Love and Other Drugs with Jake Gyllenhaal (which isn’t an event movie, but it’s from event movie director Edward Zwick). Franco, on the other hand, recently finished filming on next Summer’s Rise of the Apes where he plays the man responsible for letting apes take over the planet Earth opposite Freida Pinto and Andy Serkis and is probably best known for his work in the (it’s funny to say this) “old” Spider-Man films. He’ll next be seen cutting off his arm for Academy Award winning director Danny Boyle in 127 Hours.

All we currently know about the Alien prequel is that it’ll be set 35 years before the original 1979 film and will explain the “Space Jockey” that is encountered before Kane is implanted by the Face Hugger. Basically, the film will aim to explain where the aliens came from and how they ended up on LV-426 where they finally meet their match in Ellen Ripley. The lead character is that of “a female Colonial Marine general” and in addition to Portman, Noomi Rapace is also on Scott’s short list. Hathaway could too be up for the role, but that’s purely speculation.

Actors being in talks for something never really means much, but, any information on a new Alien movie is worth digesting and sitting with for a few minutes. Any thoughts on this pair and how they would fit into the Alien franchise?

Please no. I think Anne Hathaway is okay, but she has zero blockbuster appeal for me. I do not think she is a very good actress and I don't think she would be right for the Alien series. I am on the fence with James Franco. I like him okay, I am just not sure I want him in the film.

Jesus enough already. Pick some no name, or pick some European actor. Maybe he'll pick the chick from Twilight...What next? Britney Spears in a cameo?

The way I see it, I think that Anne Hathaway is probably not going to paly the lead, I'm sure she's circling one of supporting parts. But I'm all for seeing her seeing her go out of her comfort zone playing in a dark, action/horror movie. I'd like to see if she can do it.

I also really hope James Franco is part of it! He's a great actor and I'm really thinking that he'd be great in it. He's one of my favorite young actors, so I'm game to see him in it as well

But please cast this movie already so I can see it already!

Natalie Portman - the "Ripley" character
James Franco - the "Dallas" character
Anne Hathaway - the "Lambert" character

Now we just need the Kane, Parker and Brett characters...and Ian Holm to play the maker/predecessor of Ash.

Not bad...thus far...even with the PG-13 rating. However, I'll say it again...

No Giger, No Alien movie...it's that simple.

PG-13? This will be an 18; with Scott on board calling the shots he won't settle for a dumbed down Alien film and if Fox argue then he'll walk. They need him more than he needs them, Fox know this could renew the Alien franchise. I reckon that's part of the reason he's interested in doing this; to put the franchise back on track and make a proper Alien film.

I don't really mind who's in it, as long as it's not another Z list cast like Alien 4

Hmmm...maybe he ought to do a Terminator film too after these ones are done.

Spoiler Filled Details Emerge About the Plot and Characters of Ridley Scott's Alien Prequel

Consider yourself warned. An Australian outlet evidently got a copy of the latest script for the Alien prequel due to be directed by Ridley Scott, and subsequently put together quite the rundown of what goes on after the title page. We’ve got quite a few of the details to relay to you, but it’s all spoilerish as hell, so if you don’t want to know too much, this is your cue to stop reading.

[Show spoiler]Let’s disregard the source’s supposition that the film may be an Oscar contender (uh, WAY too early to call that) and focus instead on the details provided by What’sPlaying.au.

We’re also proceeding for now with the attitude that this is legit info, but feel free to remain skeptical if you’d like.

The site says the draft that Damon Lindelof revised from earlier work by Jon Spaihts “bares little to no similarity to the previous [Alien] chapters.” What does that mean? Through some of the following details you might get an idea.

The story follows a group of terraforming aliens the script calls ‘Growers’ — these are seemingly of the race from which comes the original film’s ‘space jockey.’ There’s a strange sequence in which the Growers use a bit of mind control to instigate a homosexual encounter between Fin and Karik, two male human slave farmers. The aliens, you see, are a single-sex species and don’t understand the male-female breeding requirements of humans.

The title alien — the xenomorph — is a creature used by Growers as part of the terraforming process, and at a point in the script it develops into the creature we know and love. So we won’t see it in the form we know right off; this will be a payoff later in the script.

Into the group of Growers and human slaves comes a ship crewed by “the usual Alien misfits” complete with a female character that sounds like Vasquez from Aliens, and another woman named Truks that is reportedly the role for which Gemma Arterton was considered. Ridley Scott has also reportedly met with Lance Henricksen, though how the guy who fit into the established Alien storyline might work in this film, I can only conjecture. (I’d guess he’d appear only towards the end, as the xenomorphs are out of control, in a story thread that would point right towards the original Alien.)

The summation is that this script is “a deep movie — part science-fiction, part psychological drama, part, dare I say, romance.”
