Well......Scott did say it was going to be a lot different than the other films...So this does make sense

They should cast Summer Glau as the Ripley character, she even looks a bit like Sigourny Weaver. Anne Hathaway in an Alien film? No thanks.

I just want a smart, horror/suspense driven film.. even if it's too different.. and I already can anticipate the prequels being different... i think there is a linkage from the prequels to the sequels.. to me, Resurrection seems unfinished... specially the alternative ending... if they ended the series with "alien 3" it would had been a different story, but Resurrection opened the gates for so much possibilities..

I can never have enough Predators nor Aliens.

The 2 alien monsters that have the staying power of Vampires and Zombies imo.

More Aliens please.

Well, on paper it sounds pretty silly, IMO. However, if Ridley gets Giger to do the creature effects/set design...this has the potential to be very dark and disturbing.

This script, known as Alien Harvest, has been on the net for 6 months.

Now that I think about it...I wouldn't be at all surprised if a slightly modified version of the Alien Harvest script becomes the basis of the prequel. At this point, it's all but impossible to make the alien scary after 6 films (especially without rehashing previous entries in some way...which I seriously doubt Scott would do anyway). Thus, the only way to effectively reinvent the alien would be to go back and further explore one of the more disturbing undertones of Alien...the idea of unnatural procreation/man-rape. This would make the story extremely relevant in today's world...as Alien Resurrection was in dealing with the issues associated with cloning back in 1997. I can easily see Ridley Scott delivering a dark, cerebral picture that explores the nature of the alien before it's first encounter with humans.

Looks like Noomi Rapace is Ridley's pic:

Ridley's Picked His Alien Babe
The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo's Rapace said to be his fave.
October 28, 2010
by Jim Vejvoda Ridley Scott has met with some of Hollywood's hottest and brightest young actresses for the female lead in his Alien prequel, and now the director has reportedly picked his favorite.

After considering the likes of Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway, Gemma Arterton, Carey Mulligan and Abbie Cornish for the role, Deadline reports that Swedish actress Noomi Rapace (best known for playing the title role in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) is Ridley's pick to star.

However, as Deadline points out, "the studio will be heavily involved in the ultimate decision, and I'm told that Rapace's English is a consideration."

Rapace was also recently cast as the female lead in Sherlock Holmes 2.

Nice!

She is an astonishing actress, Ridley needs one who can give it all and she definitely can.

the reason why Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection did not do so well it's cause the Studio was too much of a control freak!!! Let the people do their jobs!!

I just watched all of them back to back, and honestly had 3 been the workprint cut that movie would have been absolutely fantastic. I loved the workprint, it's practically an entirely different movie! But as you said, Fox stepped in and jacked it up

Resurrection on the other hand...I'm not entirely fond of The studio never should have brought Ripley back........It just feels wrong and the whole movie feels off to me.

I hope they don't tamper with the Alien prequels so bad that they turn out like 3 and 4

Can't wait to watch the workprint in HD, thought it was a huge improvement on the Quadrilogy but on this set it should be amazing, you really get a sense of what Fincher is trying to accomplish with it, I look forward to it more than Aliens infact. My Wife and I are going to whole set starting tonight with Alien, just about exhausted the special features bar the commentaries and they must be the some of the best yet, Wreckage and Rage the Alien 3 doc is fascinating!

4 is easily the worst and heres hoping that the prequels are handled properly.

So what would this be about, just the Aliens? I get how they can make a prequel to The Thing, but this puzzles me.
